how to remove the rpi lcd wide black frame

Wed Oct 07, 2015 2:09 pm

Hello.

We are starting our project and we want to use the new 7" RPi LCD, but unfortunately it has a very wide black frame, so we can't fit the new LCD into our prototype.

Is there any option to take this wide black border out from the LCD?

Thanks.

I doubt it. And please do not use all caps titles...it makes it look like you are shouting at people.

Since then I’ve seen a few enquiries via Twitter as to whether the glass could be “resized”, particularly to make it compatible with the European DIN standard for car audio head units. (We expect to see a lot of car media centres using the display.) The official answer is, “No, you will break it and void your warranty.” And I’ll leave it at that.

The front is a single piece of glass. The black is applied to the back of the glass to provide a "frame" effect, it's not a separate border or trim.
