Screen not powering on (remains black) [Solved]

Mon Sep 28, 2015 7:50 pm

Hi everyone,

I recently bought the screen, but I failed to turn it on. The screen remains black, without back lighting.
I followed the instructions on the web (tutorials, youtube, etc) for the assembly, then updated raspbian and the Pi (sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade -y; sudo rpi-update), but I get nothing.

My Pi is a old one, the 256mo RAM version, but it should be able to handle the screen according to the documentation.

The screen is powered with the official PI 2A power supply, and the raspberry pi by another power supply (the one from my mobile).

Is there a way to check if the Pi detect the presence of the screen ?

The documentation you've found is incorrect. The old Model A and Model B Pi's currently do not support the screen. A software update will fix this in time.

A few enterprising fellows on this forum have also uh... "modified" their Pi's to make it work, but I don't recommend trying it!

This explains a lot of things :D

I will have to buy a Pi 2 then. I still have usage of my old Pi for another project so that's ok.

Thank you for your quick answer !
