Right and bottom cut-off

Mon Sep 28, 2015 10:31 am

Official Pi Touchscreen Display:

When running some applications with their window maximised they overflow to the right and bottom of the Pi display making them unusable. Also, if I run the same applications in their default window mode, the window resize controls are available but the windows will not resize. Two example applications are QT Creator and FLDIGI.

Any ideas for a fix?

Probably the authors never considered their apps being run in such a small window, and thus don't "do the right thing!"

To reach the bottom of such windows you'll need to right-click on them ( assuming you have right click enabled as detailed in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=108&t=121602 .. or a mouse! ) and choose "Move"

You can then use the arrow keys to move the top of the window right off the top of the screen to reach the stuff at the bottom.

The problem is, as Peter suggests, that developers assumed a minimum vertical screen resolution of 768 and very few devices ever broke that rule- certainly not enough to provoke them to fix their apps.

Thanks both for your replies. I thought that might be the case but just wanted to check that there wasn't a display tweak available.

Fingers crossed for a nice big high-res 10" screen next :-)
