What is the optimal GPU memory setting?

Sun Sep 20, 2015 3:42 pm

I don't want to waste memory needlessly, so I was wondering what is old be the best GPU memory setting for this screen?

Using the LCD display as well as the HDMI will use more memory (there's another frame buffer) so I would suggest you use 128MB for the GPU to be safe, but you'd have to experiment if you want to find exactly what is required

Is that correct? I was under the impression that there was only one framebuffer (similar to when you use Gert's VGA666). I have read a few threads about using the official display with an HDMI display attached and I was under the impression that there was only one framebuffer, so that only programs such as omxplayer could be used on the second screen. I could be wrong, I don't have the official display.

It depends on what you mean, there is definitely another buffer for frames in memory that takes up space. But it is not a /dev/fb compatible one yet
