Raspberry Pi display- no video

Sat Sep 19, 2015 6:56 pm

Hello,
I just got in the new pi display yesterday. I updated raspbian and did everything exactly as the installation instructions specified.
After this, the screen would give me all white, followed by white and light grey stripes in a vertical orientation.
I tested the touchscreen- it works and there is no display.
I have tried repositioning the ribbon cable that gives the screen display- no luck.
Can anyone help?

Also, I noticed that the display driver board gets quite hot in certain places, specifically the small IC chip near the 3 pin chip (a transistor, I believe it is)
