Inverted Mount: special jumper wires needed

Wed Sep 16, 2015 9:15 pm

I wanna follow the inverted mount instructions posted here in order to get a more compact size and to protect sensitive components on the raspi-board.

The only problem is the size of the jumper wire connectors: they are too large and would not fit between the pi and the display board. The guide advises to
remove the plastic ends, heat shrink and bend to 90 degrees
.

I can't imagine how to do that. Neither would I want to solder the wires. Are there any special jumper wires available with smaller connectors that would fit between both boards?

You can remove the wire from one end of the plastic connector shell and just leave the metal crimp which you can bend.
To remove the wire and crimp from the plastic shell you'll need a tool with a thin fine tip, I use a scalpel. On one side of the connector you can see the metal crimp behind a little plastic tab. Lift that tab up with the tool and gently pull on the wire to remove it from the plastic shell.

You can then bend the pin and maybe just wrap it wire some electrical tape to prevent shorting pins.
