Official touchscreen display - On screen keyboard

Wed Sep 16, 2015 6:53 am

Hi,
Yesterday I have received the official touchscreen display. I would appreciate if someone could explain to me how to activate the on screen keyboard and how to scroll the pages up and down.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

You can install an onscreen keyboard like this...

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install matchbox-keyboard
And then find in Accessories > Keyboard. (If you did it from within LXDE you'll probably need to restart LXDE).

There's an alternative one called Florence...

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install florence

Hi alexeames,
That worked like a charm indeed.
Shame it is not possibile to scroll pages up and down as you would normally do with a tablet. Hopefully next drivers will implement this funcionality.
Cheers

I tried Florence but the one in the repository is missing some of the key labels, so it seems you need to use a newer version and compile it from source. Unless someone has figured out how to get all the key labels to show up using the apt-get version.

I haven't actually tried Florence yet, but I saw a reference on another site, so thought I'd include it.
