6" 2K Display fit to PI by MIPI-DSI 2ch(4lanes)

Tue Sep 15, 2015 10:08 pm

Hello Cracks,

is it possible to connect any Display with DSI / MIPI with 2Ch (4Lanes) to the PI?

In special I search for a Display with 2K (2560x1440) and would not use the HMDI.
It´s a project for a Goggle, means a Head-Display for Flightmodels.

Someone told me it´s to complicate. Need to program a special driver for this Display.
It the L-G Display 6.0" LCD Panel LH600QH1-SD01

Panel Size :
6.0 inch
Panel Type :
LTPS TFT-LCD
Resolution :
1440×2560
Mode :
IPS, Normally Black, Transmissive
Brightness :
450 cd/m2 (Typ.)
Contrast Ratio :
1100:1 (Typ.)
Display Color :
16.7M
Viewing Angle :
85/85/85/85 (Typ.)(CR>10)
Lamp Type :

Signal Type :

Any hints or exists a ready driver?

"Someone told me it´s too complicated. Need to program a special driver for this Display."

I believe that is correct. The RPi DSI hardware driver is in the GPU, it is proprietary and not exposed and in fact, I'm not sure it is even possible in theory, because RPi has only 2 DSI data lanes, not 4.

"The Raspberry Pi provides one clock lane and two data lanes on the S2 connector" http://elinux.org/RPi_Screens#DSI_port
