Question about NPM and PIPIN

Wed Aug 24, 2016 12:54 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm a rank newbie at 60+ years old LOL.
Tech by trade so I think I can 'get' this stuff.

I saw a program in the MagPi a couple of months back - called PIPIN I think - shows the status of the GPIO inputs and outputs.
It uses the NPM packaging and I'm reading all this stuff and it isn't making much sense.

Can someone tell me how to invoke (run) the program ?
I've installed NPM and PIPIN and now I'm lost.

Regards,
ChrisM

I think you need to give us a specific link to the MagPi edition that contains the project you're trying.

I couldn't even get npm or pipin installed on the RPi I've brought with me on holidays. NPM is a pile of brown smelly stuff that doesn't have a simple way to resolve it's broken dependencies so I got stuck.

I deleted your other duplicate post, although you'll probably get more attention in other sub forums....

Okay - looked through all issues of MagPi and couldn't find article with PIPIN.
So, I went through my emails and there it was ! But NOT in the MagPi :(

Drats !

It was in the Raspberry Pi weekly newsletter issue #155 - 03Jun16

Can anyone help me here (See first post about problems) ?

regards,
Chris M

Ah ha, I'll have a look I've packratted all the RPi weekly newsletters. (Because GMail gives me 15GB of email space to fill and I've not yet gone over 2GB.)
