NPN Darlington pair transistor

Thu Jul 07, 2016 3:54 pm

Hi,
In this months MagPi the tutorial "Make a Dinosaur React to your Email" makes use of an NPN Darlington pair transistor. Does anyone know what transistor I actually need? I'm a software guy, I'm still learning the electronics side of things.

Thanks

Howdy,
The link to the magazine is ... https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi-issues/MagPi47.pdf and the article can be found on p44.

The transistor used has to be a power transistor and not a signal processing transistor. An excellent example of one of these would be the "TIP120". These can be found on eBay and other suppliers for about $2 for 10.
