how to analyse images from results of pi camera?

Hi,
I am thinking of trying to analyse each frame/image I take with the program to see and high amounts of infa red light using the pi NOIR so it can analyse it as a anomaly and then take a closer look at it or even crop the image afterwards and its supposed to do it after every frame in the timelapse I want to do. Do you know how I could do it?

Look into the YUV format. You will probably just want to use the Luma component, as it represents the brightness of a pixel. Hope this helps.

Yeah YUV is a good one to use. More info on how to do that through the picamera library here.
The other issue you may have is that the camera can perceive visible light as well as IR light, so if you only want to look at IR light you might need a visible light excluding filter in front of the camera.
