[..]Are there any news on the Wayland front, by the way[..] Listen to the Raspberry Pi guys recent interview with Eben - this (and lots of other stuff) is covered. I did so and it was quite interesting! However, for my non-English ears some parts in Eben's answers were a bit hard to understand (I o...

Ubuntu Mate 15.04 for the Pi² : Hardware Mouse cursor?

Since a short while Ubuntu Mate is an official Ubuntu flavour and there's a fine 15.04 image read to run on our lovely Pi2 which can also be downloaded via Raspberry Pi's download page . So next to the excellent Debian based Raspian we now also have an Ubuntu based distribution on our Pi (now again ...

Re: Why didn't we go with Mali?

I am really enjoying this thread. Thanks for your good posts, people. Very informative. The more I learn about the Pi (and Pi2) and the design desicions made in order to realise it, the more I like it. :-) Are there any news on the Wayland front, by the way, which is – I think – related to: There co...

Re: ATARI ST EMULATOR, HATARI

Welshy, thanks for the explanation which I understand. So I concentrated on a few games then, where some have sound but a few gems don't have sound on Hatari on the Pi, but on Hatari on a Linux PC. Has anybody of you experienced the same problem with Hatari on the Pi? (I use the version from the Ras...

using gohai's rasbian image i can start run quite a lot of OpenGL 2 content Your entire posting is good news, Xranby. Would "OpenGL 2 content" include Blender? I'm asking because Blender is such a nice "killer app", also being used in educational environments, so that Blender on the Pi would be awe...

Re: Problem with JavaFX and Opengl

Codenoob, I am not sure about JavaFX on Ubuntu, but on Raspbian we too have to ensure a few things in order to get JavaFX using the Pi's nice 3d pipeline. Maybe the Debian based Ubuntu is similar to the Debian port Raspbian in one of the following aspects? Could be worth a try: • The Raspbian user n...

Re: ATARI ST EMULATOR, HATARI

Sine Hatari (v1.62) is in the Raspbian's repository, I apt-get installed it and it runs very smooth on the Pi2. That's wonderful to see what this fine Pi can do out of the box. However, with some demos or games (like the amazing Carrier Command) there doesn't seem to be any sounds: Hatari prints som...

Re: Java Vs Python Vs C.

I would avoid Java. It may be popular, but its future is at the whim of some powerful company. Python is not. Indeed there's no reason to trust Oracle (or MS, or any other super corporation), on the contrary. And suspecting or even knowing this, just a few years before little SUN's extermination ta...

Re: Java Vs Python Vs C.

If I wanted to push out a full scale application for rasbian what would be my best bet? 1) Since you already know Java, I'd say use Java. Oracle's Java 8 included in Raspbian is robust and well optimised for the Pi. On a Pi2 with its nice 4 ARM cores it runs very well indeed, and Java 8's multi-cor...

1. Can i setup a virtual machine lets say an android device on a ubuntu server (host) and link this over to the raspberry pi? the ubuntu server is running LTSP. If so how do i do that? "raspi-config" in der Konsole aufrufen, da kann man das auch einstellen -- erneut einstellen, falls nötig.

Re: SSH no longer starts automatically on bootup

Sometimes to uninstall and re-install a packet which causes trouble, can help. So, why not try:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove openssh-server
sudo apt-get install openssh-server
And only then Dougie's good old advice comes into effect: "Re-install the OS". :-)

You're all talking like there is no demoscene anymore. On the Pi there doesn't seem to be one -- yet. Your other two linked demos are PC demos. Not bad, for sure, but on the PC: very cosseted people usually and hardly be impressible. I know a lot of PC users but not a single one ever watched a (PC)...

Re: Raspberry Pi Demo Scene?

Is there such a thing as a RPi Demo Scene? I doubt it because in a world so loud and gaudy, old school things including demos just get lost. (And the few exceptions to that rule won't have the power to form a "demo scene" like we had in the old days.) This having said, the Pi is nevertheless an exc...
