It did not work.
What was the error?

I just noticed that pcsx-rearmed is now in the Pi Store, so you can get it there too.

Re: Retro-Pie PSX Help

You can compile the non-libretro version of pcsx_rearmed, which has frameskipping. That might make your games look a little smoother. To compile on Raspbian: sudo apt-get install git libsdl-dev git clone git://github.com/notaz/pcsx_rearmed.git cd pcsx_rearmed git submodule init && git submodule upda...

Re: EmulationStation GBA/PSX emulation

VBA is one of the most demanding emulators in RetroArch, even more high-end ARM devices have trouble running it.
Like Aloshi said you should use gpSP instead.

I also get the "cannot connect to sdp session" error on Raspbian but shortly after it says that the controller has connected. . The lights on the controller stay blinking and it doesn't vibrate to let me know that it's connected like it usually does, but the controller at least works. I only see thi...

I think one of the Retroarch devs was talking about porting gpSP to libretro.
If/when that happens it should run on the R-Pi

Re: How to make the PS3 controller work through USB ?

The PS3 controller tries to charge when you plug it in and the Pi's USB ports don't provide enough power.
You can make it work with a powered USB hub, or get a cheap bluetooth dongle to connect wirelessly.

It might also work if you plug it in when it is fully charged.

I have been ripping my DVDs with handbrake's default settings (Normal Preset) and they seem to play fine.
Any reason you recommend the Android preset? Is it better for the Pi?

It depends on the game A lot of the less demanding 2D games I tried ran extremely well, like 50-60 FPS. Those were: Megaman 8 Herc's Adventures Tetris Plus Metal Slug X And some 3D games: Megaman Legends - ~30 FPS during gameplay for the short time I played Road Rash 3D - 10-15 FPS during gameplay, ...

Re: ARCH LINUX PEFORMANCE GAINS?

After using both I can say that Arch boots and shuts down faster thanks to systemd.
I also find Arch's package manager (pacman) to be much faster than Debian's apt-get on the R-Pi.

Aside from that there probably isn't that much of a difference.

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

After compiling Retroarch on Arch Linux ARM I am seeing this warning with the fceumm and pocketsnes cores:
"0RGB1555 pixel format is deprecated, and will be slower. For 15/16-bit, RGB565 format is preferred"

Is this normal? I don't remember seeing it on Raspbian.
Maybe I missed a dependency?

Re: PCSX ReARMed - Compile Errors

By any chance are you configuring with --platform=libretro and --sound-drivers=sdl?
I think those 2 options don't work together, let it select the libretro sound driver when building for libretro.

Re: PCSX ReARMed - Compile Errors

Well I got it to compile but it only supported a SDL window and it was very, very, VERY small thus rendering any game unplayable. Performance was awesome actually if you can see it, game tested was Silent Hill. Oh well, I was just playing around; its not a huge deal. I like ePSXe on windows anyway....

Re: Autostart xboxdrv on boot

If you're on Debian/Raspbian you can probably just add something like this it /etc/rc.local

Code: Select all

xboxdrv --trigger-as-button --silent &
No need to use sudo here, because rc.local already runs as root.
Make sure you add it before the line that says 'exit 0'

Yeah I think the filename needs to be lowercase.
You can disable audio by setting 'audio_enable=false' in retroarch.cfg.
There are some other audio settings in there that might help with the sound, but I haven't messed with those yet.

Put it in whatever folder you have set for 'system_directory' in /etc/retroarch.cfg.
If 'system_directory' is unset it will load it from the same folder as your game ROM.
