Re: DVB-S Tuner

Yes, almost half the price.

I'm using it for almost 9 months now on Linux, Windows PC (dvbviewer) and now on the Raspi. No problems so far. And it has been supported on Linux quite some time now.

Re: DVB-S Tuner

Re: DVB-S Tuner

Today I connected the technisat usb HD receiver to my Raspi and got it to work. I can even view HD TV directly on my Raspi. I have to use a different solution than I used on my Ubuntu PC. If mumudvb serves all streams from a transponder, CPU goes too high. And the strange thing is, that omxplayer al...

Your boot partition is corrupted. This seems to happen, if you update from a certain version.

Different solutions have been given in the forum. Simplest one is to do a repair on a linux system. Search the forum for more information.

Re: omxplayer - GPU enabled video player

Not something I will support. omxplayer plays the audio from the GPU. It has no knowledge of USB or linux or alsa. It would be possible to disable the openmax audio and just use omplayer for the video decode. Then some completely new code could support ALSA audio output from the ARM. It would be pr...

Re: omxplayer - GPU enabled video player

I downloaded all three 1080p examples and they worked fine.

omxplayer is getting better all the time. There is only one thing I'm really missing: support for usb audio cards, either with alsa or pulse audio.

Re: DVB-S Tuner

I'm using the technisat device on Ubuntu, but have not tried it on the Raspi yet. The driver is in the kernel and must be added to /ect/modules to get it to work. For serving http streams I use mumudvb, which is also available for the Raspi. As it is using about 10% of processor time on an 1.5 GHz A...

Re: How good webrowser will the Raspberry give me ?

The real web browsers on the pi (Chromium, Iceweasel) have decent functionality, but at the cost of very slow load times compared to a PC, even a very old PC. What the hell is a "real web browser"? Are only things "real",that are blown up and need incredible resources? One example (on the Pi): Chro...

Re: Really Fast Browser Inside! (mp4 video & mp3 audio suppo

I always cloned the source with git and installed it via "sudo make install". But you have to do that now both for web and omxtgtk as well. For my own split-off (kweb, Minimal Kiosk Browser), I don't offer a debian package at all, but a tar.gz file. There is a rather large README file included, that...

Re: Seems slow

I believe that Midori is slow due to Java. I use the NetSurf and it is much faster but won't load pages using Java. I think you mean "Javascript" and not "Java". But you are right insofar that large amounts of Javascript (Ajax pages) are really slow in all Raspi Browsers (and even on faster compute...

Re: Seems slow

Midori is horribly slow. If there was one thing the R Pi really needs it would be a fast full featured browser. The minimal browsers are great but there is some content they won't view. This is not true, at least not for the two browsers I mentioned. They are both based on webkit and display everyt...

Re: Seems slow

Try Gomoto's Minimal Web Browser or my Minimal Kiosk Browser (derived from it). A Google search result page is displayed about 3 times as fast as with Midori and 5 times as fast as with chromium. Disabling javascript (default in Gomoto's browser, can be switched on/off from the toolbar) speeds it up...

Re: Minimal Kiosk Browser

There is no flash on the Raspberry Pi and never will be. And everything that uses large amounts of Javascript - especially AJAX pages - will be slow. There is nothing you can do about that. The basic engine is the same as the one used in Midori and Chromium (webkit). But by keeping it simple the bro...

Usually it does not take 72 hours. I received mine within a few hours.

1) Check you spam folder

2) If it's not there, you may have had a typo in your email address. Did you receive a confirmation of your order?

ad 1) No. You must have started with softfloat debian.

ad 2) I'm not sure which omxplayer version is part of the distribution; I always get the newest version from omxplayer.sconde.net and the newest (matching) firmware using rpi-update.

Re: How to stop a program from LXterminal

Your program is not closed, when you close the terminal, because the process is owned by root. If you open a terminal as root, start the program from there (no sudo needed), it should be stopped, if you close the terminal.

Re: How to stop a program from LXterminal

Don't run the program as root, without "sudo" in front. Then it should stop, when you close the terminal or press CTRL-C.
