Re: Change boot address to UUID

Okay that makes some sense. The guide you linked to uses an alternative to UUID for the /boot/cmdline.txt file that would require reformatting the card. I've attempted to get this to work enough times with no success that I'm lacking motivation to put that much effort into it, even though I have a g...

Re: Why does Raspberry Pi freeze, when watchdog is running

With Model B+ it happens every 3-4 days. With Model Pi 2 it happens every 3-4 weeks. I bought a good power supply, and do not overclock the Pi. I use RaspiComm - maybe this is the problem? It's a hardware board placed on the GPIO header and a kernel modul. Running on SD-Card. Mounted read-only. /va...

Re: Change boot address to UUID

If the filesystem is on the SD card then I should be able to remove the SD card after boot, right? Well, I cannot. After moving (or so I thought) the filesystem to the USB stick I meticulously saved an image of the USB stick before I made any major change. Twice I needed to go back to the previous ...

Re: Why does Raspberry Pi freeze, when watchdog is running

What model Raspberry Pi?
Is this runninging on the SD card or is root on USB?
If it's a Pi 2, did you enable higher current on USB if there's a higher demand on the USB ports?

Hello everybody. I need wysiwyg or similar alternative web html editor. I'm not search dreamweaver or frontpage capability. Not notepad or notepad like editor. I need advice for possible applications. Have to agree with other posters here. You're going to want to learn how to do this in a text edit...

Still unable to get this to work. Everything I've read about it seems to indicate you have to compile the kernel to make this work. This did work with RaspBMC, but never been able to get it to work with Raspbian.

Re: VPN problem with router & Pi2

You didn't tell use what VPN you are attempting to set up? Are you using OpenVPN? I've successfully set up OpenVPN, but there's several stumbling blocks with setting up any VPN. You should attack the problem a bit at a time. First set up the VPN just using local addresses and attempt to connect from...

Re: Cool case idea

Biggest concern is going to be whether this causes the Pi to run too hot or not. If the elastic case was too sealed or form fitting, it might cause the Pi to run too hot. A possible solution, I suppose would be heat sink inserts that were held in the elastic case. If you are thinking about a band th...

Re: Send an email when a file is created

Not sure why you are getting this error. Here is my entire /etc/postfix/main.cf file. Compare it to what you have and see if anything looks like it might be causing the problem. I think there may have been some changes to the default configuration causing this problem. # See /usr/share/postfix/main....

Re: Send an email when a file is created

you might try typing mail or sudo mail to see if you are getting any failed sent messages. I think they could possibly end up under the user motion as well.

Re: Send an email when a file is created

This is all built into motion. If that's the software that you used to set up the security cam (look like it since you are using /home/pi/Motion as the directory to store videos) you can set the configuration settings to run a mailer that will send new video or image files. This is what I've been u...

I made a Raspberry Pi security camera and would like it to send me an email whenever a new video is created. The videos are saved in /home/pi/Motion and are .mpg files, if that helps. Also, I would like to find a way to delete .mpg files over 14 days old. Can someone please give me detailed instruc...

Re: [SOLVED] Install of vncserver causes blank screen on reb

It's as I mentioned, the line reading: su $VNCUSER -c '/usr/bin/tightvncserver :1' The :1 moves the vnc session to it's own virtual screen. Your original solution had :0. I think if you leave the number off, it automatically uses the first available. I'd leave the 1 there for how your are starting i...

Re: Install of vncserver causes blank screen on reboot

Oh, wait! I should probably try and solve the problem posted, shouldn't I? Okay, so you are running the vncserver on ":0" which is what I would do if I was using x11vnc, however since you are using tightvncserver, you probably shouldn't do that. Instead use ":1". Note that the port number to reach t...

Re: Install of vncserver causes blank screen on reboot

I think your 99 out of 100 is way off, I use tightvncserver all the time and it does "exactly what it says on the tin". I've never had any surprises with tightvncserver. I like tightvncserver better when I don't want to mess with what's actually going out to the display. For controlling the same de...

Use blkid to find the UUID for the drive, add a permanent mount for it in /etc/fstab. UUID=uuuu-uuuu-uuuu /media/FRED xxxx defaults, noatime 0 1 with uuuu-uuuu-uuuu as the UUID (from blkid) and xxxx as the filesystem type (fat32, ext4, ntfs or ntfs-3g) depending what's on your drive. Re: POE for the Pi (Kickstarter)

It seems like an expensive solution to the problem. Looks like if I want to use POE I need 25 quid for that HAT for the Pi. Then I need another 25 or more for the power supply end. All in all I can do all that for a length of bell wire and a WIFI module. Or am I missing a point here? You've overloo...
