Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

@ejurgensen: What I forgot to mention is that according to https://github.com/haiwen/seafile/wiki/Seafile-Virtual-Filesystem-via-FUSE the mount is Read-Only! But I thought this couldn't be the problem, since I want to read only. @Tom_A: Thanks for your valuation, too! So, if you say that write-acce...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Is the user you created a member of a group that has access to the fuse mounted volume? Yes, "seafile" is a member of the fuse-group. The strange thing is: I know that he has access, I can navigate to the folder and copy files. Tom_A, maybe you can try to mount a FS via FUSE, too, and set the direc...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've been able to get forked-daapd to work without having root set. One problem I made was initially assuming that the problem was with access to my music directory when it was actually a problem with access to the directory where the database was being stored. Is the user you created a member of a ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

So when you run "make install" you will not get an init script, you will have to make that yourself. On Ubuntu that probably means writing an upstart conf script. You can avoid this work by using the debian.tar.gz I refered to, since it has these scripts and config files. If you download it and unp...

Re: Hi I'm New & I need answers for playing video using Rasp

XBMC is the best way I've found to play videos with a GUI on the Raspberry Pi (not bad on other platforms as well). There are a few ways to install it. It can be installed directly into Raspbian, but most choose to use one of the optimized images (Raspbmc, Openelec, Xbian). If you use noobs to insta...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I haven't had to install like this yet. Still pretty new to Ubuntu. I tried looking up a guide for building a deb, but still not confident as what exactly to do. One method builds the deb without an install while another installs first the same as I did following the "INSTALL" guide. I'm a bit lost ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Attempted to get Init script working in ubuntu, but failing to figure out how to do this properly. Is there a reason the install file doesn't have more detailed directions on how to do this? This seems to be set up automatically with Raspbian install and older versions of forked-daapd (which unfortu...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

As a work-around to this, use two file share locations, one local and one remote. The local location will work better for pairing remotes and you can also use it for playlists. I find it more likely to change playlists than add music. When new music is added, then it would be a good idea to restart ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Tunesremote SE requires Java 6. Tried installing on Mac and was unsuccessful. Hopefully someone picks up the task of making a web interface remote eventually. I wouldn't think that it would necessarily have to be part of the same project. Something like Maraschino for XBMC would be nice, only with a...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

The install method posted at the beginning of the topic is what I used and it worked for me. Think of forked-daapd as being iTunes with the GUI stripped away. You use the iTunes remote to control it the same as you would with iTunes but there is no easy method to control music other than the iTunes ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Thanks for this. Exactly what I needed. Pairing is much easier. I've noticed that it's best to wait for the library to finish updating to pair devices.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Working now. "libavresample-dev" was the missing piece. I do get an error message when I start forked-daapd though. no talloc stackframe at ../source3/param/loadparm.c:4864, leaking memory I get this every time that forked-daapd is started. Solved: This turned out to be a bug with something to do wi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've upgraded to Ubuntu 14 (trusty) successfully, however I am not able to compile forked-daapd now. Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Everything seems to be working as it should. There is a huge lag sometimes when controlling with the remote app. I tried installing onto my Ubuntu machine to see if this would work better and it does. There is no artwork shown though and I was wondering if there is some way to enable artwork/embedde...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Unless it's because the playlists are still being scanned, the playlist problem still exists. Some of my playlists only containing a single radio stream are now showing up as empty. I also have some playlists of just audio files that also are missing items. Will have to see if this changes after eno...

Re: Fastest WiFi

I've found I have better luck with streaming if I plug the wifi adaptor into a usb hub rather than plugging it in directly to the pi. It seems to work fine without the hub until I try streaming video. Before I discovered this, I solved my streaming problem by using power line ethernet adaptors to co...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Library is on a networked drive. I don't mind restarting when I make changes. This shouldn't be too frequent once everything is set up the way I want. When I got home tonight, I tried accessing my "radio stations" playlist and only the last item showed up on the list. I know the first item on the li...

I've managed to get one to work. I'm not sure why the link I found here didn't work for me. Possibly other unsupported links in file messing things up. I might have not waited long enough. AirPrint over OpenVPN

I just finished writing a guide to allow AirPrint to work between two separate networks using OpenVPN over a "tun" interface. I was able to get AirPrint to work between two separate home networks even if the iOS devices were not signed into the VPN. This however does not work unless there is a local...
