Re: Bluetooth broken in latest releases

Kernel package can be found here:-http://aniceplace.me.uk/Pi/New_Kernel.tar.gz
Did anyone find this useful? Would seem that OpenElec has the same problem so was thinking about patching that as well, will put it up if this has been of benefit.

Re: Bluetooth broken in latest releases

EDIT 1: Realized that, it wont work like that .. so another question. Say if there is a new update 3.10.28, then if I use rpi-update will my bluetooth get broken ? I would think my patch will be over written, however I have a method now so can just re-patch until its fixed properly, no big deal. Ne...

Re: Bluetooth broken in latest releases

You will need to extract the downloaded file first, easiest way to do this is right click in filemanager and select extract... The files should be organized like this, so copy the whole 3.10.27MEC_BTFIX+ directory into modules, and the contents of firmware into firmware. Little bit confusing but hop...

Re: Bluetooth broken in latest releases

Guys, I will package this and stick if up somewhere tomorrow, sorry for the delay but I had to do some more testing. I thought I had broken some devices but it was down to my understanding of the compile instructions and how to transfer the files to the Pi.. @RPiPro:- Will have a look at that but pr...

Re: Bluetooth broken in latest releases

Hi, Quick update on this issue, I successfully built a kernel with the above patches today and at first pass it looks like the problem is solved. Hciconfig shows the device as being up and I can pair with a laptop. Getting late so will give it a good work out tomorrow. If it don't break any rules I'...

Re: Trying to compile 3.10.y Kernel

Hmmmm, looks like there was an issue with using the downloaded ZIP. Just tried getting the kernel via GIT and it appears to be compiling now... Still unsure on the tool chain to use, I've gone with gcc-linaro-arm-linux-gnueabihf-raspbian as most of the guides I've seen point this way.... Will see if...

Trying to compile 3.10.y Kernel

Hi, I'm trying to compile the 3.10.y kernel using the instructions from http://elinux.org/RPi_Kernel_Compilation and other howto pages I've found, I really do not get very far though, can anyone shed any light.... I’m trying to compile on Mint16 and have installed:- apt-get install gcc-arm-linux-gnu...

Re: Bug Bluetooth Dongle not detected by hcitool

Well, the Kernel build didnt go as planned, stuff was missing either that or I failed to get the point of the instructions. I'm setting up a Ubuntu environment on a PC that I can build on, got a hefty CAD workstation that should chew through the compilation a bit quicker.... Again will keep you post...

Re: Bug Bluetooth Dongle not detected by hcitool

Hi, Well it booted, however it looks like I forgot to copy everything that was needed over, libs and modules I think, will try over the weekend if I get chance. Will let you know. If you are temped to compile your own best do it on a pc, took about 10 hours on the Pi running at 900mhz, without the t...

Re: Bug Bluetooth Dongle not detected by hcitool

Hi, I the details of the patch are here:- http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=66336 I applied the patch and built the Kernel yesterday, I will try tonight to see if it works. I've never built a Kernel before, so there are some BIG question marks as to whether it will actually boot...

Re: What tools do I need to compile a kernel module ?

Hi, I agree there seems to be a fair degree of contradiction with the best methods to build the Kernel. I want to apply a patch to Bluetooth, so have been reading through the various posts and guides, the stock answer seems to be read :- http://elinux.org/RPi_Kernel_Compilation However this guide al...

Re: USB Robotic Arm

Hi,

Bit of an old one, but I got one of the Maplin USB arms for Xmas, I found this thread and had a play, great........

But I also found this little Python gem that lets you control the arm via a PS3 controller...

Works a treat....

Re: Bug Bluetooth Dongle not detected by hcitool

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply, that has given me enough to google and find out how to do it...

Really do think this needs sorting out properly and quite quickly, shouldn't be too difficult as there is a working patch available....

Thanks again !

Re: Rii Mini Bluetooth keyboard

Seen the same problem, bit frustrating, fortunately I had a an old image so reverted back to that... Looks like there is a patch for the Kernel but from what I can see its not been accepted for whatever reason, be good if we could get it implemented... https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60824

Re: USB Hub and back power

Hi, To a layman I would say for the majority of cases back power would be a benefit, if you have a weak main PSU it would top it up so to speak..... My hub back powers and I use it to actually power the Pi when I run out of plug sockets... I did read about issues with fuses on the early Pi's whereby...
