Re: Pi 4b and TV hat

I think Dougie got it to install with some apt wizardry, adding Stretch as a source I think. If I find the link I'll post back.

Edit.

the problem is that those who today buy a raspberry and a tvhat and have no stretch image available, on the site there is only the buster version of 06-20-2019
For reference old images can be found here.

I saw a 20C drop, just with the FanShim fitted, no heatsink. The USB ports were noticeably cooler as well after 10 mins of the fan running.

No mention of Buster at http://apt.tvheadend.org/

Like B.Goode said we are a bit too early doors here and will just have to wait for the rest of the world to catch up.

Strange behaviour.

Hi, I’ve been seeing some strange behavior when using the full images of Stretch and now Buster. I’ve tested with a clean install, changed password, enabled “Wait for Network” and updated on a 3B and a 3B+ First:- If I move the mouse when the splash screen is displayed at boot, it reverts back to th...

Re: RaspberryPi 4: heatsink or fan

Something like this ? https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/fan-shim Very much so! That is not SMBus am I right? Because you can read the fan speed or do other sh*t by using only one I2C bus and on address. I would imagine it's I2C, to be honest I've not looked yet, my box of goodies is waiting for me...

A small 30mm fan made a big difference for me, a HS is fitted but its a really cheap "pants" one.

Re: RaspberryPi 4: heatsink or fan

I ordered one and a heatsink, will see whats better when I'm setup

I'm planning to setup a NAS/NextCloud/VPN server with my 4, when I've got everything on I'll see what load I'm getting and make the choice then. I would think the heatskink will suffice to be honest, save the fan for a desktop.

One quirk I noticed on upgrading - it left php7.0 there, as well as installing php7.3. I had to manually set up apache2 to use php7.3 instead of php7.0, then remove all of the php7.0 stuff.
I found that as well, confused me for a while.

HI, Just a heads up the installer does not work with the new "Buster" images, missing packages.. However I'm not sure how much of an impact the switch to ffmpeg will make, ...

Although somebody did do a successful upgrade from Stretch to Buster, we do not recommend it and have not published how to do it. It may happen. I took a punt and updated my Lite image running RPiCam-Interface, it wasn't without issues, however I am now running Buster. The were the usual questions ...

Nice write up, thanks for sharing. My 2p worth of contribution, if you are seeing poor speeds over your VPN connection try adding the following to your server.conf file sndbuf 393216 rcvbuf 393216 push "sndbuf 393216" push "rcvbuf 393216" I can pull 20Mbit/S using my Pi2 basically maxing out the ups...

From memory you can force a FB resolution in /boot/config.txt , I have had to do this when running headless..

Code: Select all

# uncomment to force a console size. By default it will be display's size minus
# overscan.

Should we be seeing the 4.19 kernel when we do an apt update ?

Two of my Pis are on 4.19 now, a Zero and Pi1B but the Pi2 is still on 4.14 with no sign of an update.

Have I missed something?

Pi 1B Active Cooling case

Hi, Bit of advice on a case required. I have repurposed a Pi 1B as a ADS-B receiver, the Pi is located in the apex of my garage, so I can get the aerial on the roof without a long cable run.
