Re: Pi Camera V2 raw bayer data

Been using raw pics to check focus on the 8Mp V2 forum.
ImageMagick on a Linux box works with the --raw files fine.
RAW is better than jpg on the V2, FYI V1 raw is really good.

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

Wonder what a V2 lens on V1 camera looks like.

Thread getting very hard to turn, it is now a wide angle macro V1 camera 10mm focus with 0.5mm DOF.
Worn out my credit card spanner.

For security use, a V2 lens on a V1?
For good images V1 lens on V2?

Quick test swapping lens.
Not properly focused, but first impression V1 lens is better than V2 lens.

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

Just did raspistill --raw -o testv2-5.raw Using ImageMagick on a Linux Box I can see the RAW data is much better than the jpg. ImageMagick takes the RAW files no problem. Best image from a V2 so far, now I know why pro's use RAW. Now to compare it to a RAW from a V1. Rats, V1 RAW is much better. Foc...

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

Just did the this on a V2, raspistill -w 3280 -h 2464 -o testv2-2.jpg raspistill -o testv2-3.jpg Interestingly the first image is more blurred. Never done RAW images before, reading up on the forums. Won't be able to get best focus if raspistill jpg is blurring things. V2 jpgs are not much bigger th...

Blue LED unicorn with Pink LED lit horn?
Barbie Pink = 100% red + 1 to 5% blue and green, depending on the type of RGB led.
Don't ask why I know this.

Anyone done a blue unicorn animation on a Pimoroni Unicorn LED hat?

Lots of trouble writing the new Jessie versions to 6-7cards.
Had to delete all partitions and reformat as fat, the write again.
Now running ./install-pikrellcam.sh on first one
Hope it works.

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

Losing the light but just did sudo raspiyuv -w 3280 -h 2464 -rgb -o testv2-1.rgb Now have a 24MB file. I just assumed the software could tell it had a V2 and ran the default settings at max. Will upgrade everything tonight and test tomorrow. caerandir you are now famous:) The v2.1 camera boards have...

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

Interesting. Just did raspiyuv on a V1, V2, default settings. ended up with two 15.2MB files. I would have expected a 24MB file for the V2. Need to install a RGB viewer to check image quality. I also used default settings for raspistill. Will try the new OS, I am only running 4.4.9 Just wondering if...

Re: Camera Module V2 ENOSPC Error

Was reading the manual. https://www.raspberrypi.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/RaspiCam-Documentation.pdf Page 4 has ENOSPC error, running out of GPU memory. GPU code memory leak? Increase gpu_mem, see if it takes longer to crash? V2 needs more bytes because it is nearly double the size of the 5Mp. ...

Just been reading up.
Another option is boot from SD and put the rest on an USB drive.
The new Jessie has some backup tools now, might be useful?
Boot from SD then load OS from a PiDrive, reminds me of how PC's work :ugeek:

Got one Jessie and 3 Jessie Lites running. Bad cards can stuff things up, had two fail in the last few weeks, but they are getting to 4yrs old. I don't trust 16GB cards yet, dollar wise 16, 32 are ripe for counterfeiting. Only have one 16GB SD and one 16GB micro SD, mostly for reliability testing. G...

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

Did the two card trick on my other V2 camera this morning. With the 8mm notch card I got enough leverage to crack the glue on the lens. Even that first crack clockwise gave it better focus. I could then adjust focus with only the lens twist card. Very hard to adjust focus with handmade hole in the c...

Peterleroux, That's one of the first red filter pics I have seen on a Pi forum. It would be nice if we could do the colour mapping on the Pi instead of relying on infragram. Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

Just unscrewed the lens from a normal V2 to see if I could get IR off.
Does not seem to be a IR blocker on the back of the lens, it is quite curved..
It actually looks like a square bit of film is over the sensor.
Have not pulled V1's apart to compare normal to Noir V1.
