Re: BEWARE when placing multiple orders at ‚The Pi Hut‘

OP complaining about getting two Zero's at once? Wish I was so lucky, I ordered one, they acknowledged and shipped same day. That is quick service. They will be getting more orders from me. Might have been the case of two different people taken two different orders and packing was smart enough to fi...

Re: I2C problem - can´t talk to sensor

I use device tree options in config.txt dtparam=i2c1_baudrate=10000 Have you tried a different i2c sensor? Just to make sure the i2c is working. I use i2c temperature sensors a lot, easy to get and use. For testing I use a Cypress miniprog 3 which can act as a USB to i2c adapter. Running Bridge soft...

What speed have you got the i2c at?
It might detect at a higher speed but not read.
I sometimes goes at low as 10000baud.

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Number crunching. Have not done timelapse, it's on the list  Timelapse an image every sec= 86400/day Every 10secs=8640/day, every minute 1440/day Pi2 would take 1 hour to avconv 1440 images, B+ = half a day to do it? Pi2 a bit under 3 days to compress 86400 images. Starting see why a speedomete...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Should read the instructions before offering opinions  With the default setup on a Pi 2, avconv converts 100 timelapse jpegs into about a 17 second 12 MByte video in about 4 minutes. Toggle show timelapse on the OSD to monitor the converted MP4 size progress. A B+ with one core can be 12 times...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

1GB is twice 512MB but it is not quite the same. A big OS might take 100MB+ plus GPU 128MB. Leaving 250MB on a B free but more than 750MB free on the 2-3's. Video converters are real CPU/memory hogs. Is there any converter that can use 4 cores? Looking at the block diagram, Billw's code looks like i...

Re: Power Pi Zero From Pi 2

I will let you know next week when my 1st Zero's arrive:) Depends how much voltage/current you need. Just the Zero should be fine, if you add camera and need HDMI then maybe. I will be doing doing a double/triple camera system, one 2B and 1-2 Zero's. With the 2B sharing the network to the Zero as yo...

512MB or 1GB.
V2's will probably end up on my Pi2's.

Re: I2C problem - can´t talk to sensor

Try some shell script, it could be the python code. I always test my i2c sensors on Windows with a USB to i2c adapter first. If I can detect it then I know it is working, can also test reading/writing registers. Then sudo i2cdetect -y 1 on the Pi, this will find the address. Then i2cget -y 1 address...

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

jbeale, I think they rely on the cellphone camera being autofocus to adjust for the adaptor optics not being exactly neutral-focus (collimated in != collimated out). I suspect you're right, might need some serious mounting and focus adjustment. But that is all part of the fun with RPi's. Maybe I wil...

Re: New 8MP Camera - Q&A thread

I think the lowest risk, if you don't have access to a 3D printer to make the lens spanners, is to use add on lens. Mobile phone clip-ons lens, seen these as low as $2. Got my eye a 12x telephoto clip on for $7 and will get another wide angle one as well. For a bird box you will probably need a macr...

To answer my own question. Dietpi + pikrellcam :( Looks to be issues with user, permissions and nginx at the least. Not working but only 650MB, about half Jessie Lite. Dietpi seems to be more designed as an easy to setup server. Got some nice features, uses ramfs for lots instead of SD card. Can aut...

Re: Connecting 32 I2C Slaves

Running 12 sensors on 5+ meter of cable right now, have done 27+ sensors. Longer cables need slower speeds. added this to config.txt dtparam=i2c1_baudrate=10000 Only reading every minute so if it takes a few seconds it is no problem. Some stuff running 24/7 for nearly 2years, without issues. There a...

Anyone tried pikrellcam on a Zero? Got two Zero's on the way with cables. I think there is away to do networking over serial? Not sure max baud rate on the Zero, 10Mbaud? Cannot connect to 3B because of Uart change? Pi B, B+, 2B with serial to a Zero mean I only have to network the B. Can have the B...

JavaFX will do it.
Start with stopwatch example
I've done instrument cluster overlay on image and videos.

Still looking for something better and smaller, OpenVG?

Will need to use javascript or similar with sockets if it is a web server display.

Re: Camera module with a lenses?

You could grab a clip on macro lens used for mobile phones and mount it in front of the normal lens.
All types on mobile phone clip/magnetic lens are available.
ebay etc $2-20? three packs etc
Plenty of links in the forum, google etc.

Going inside a bird box it is going to be close up/macro anyway.

Tricky focusing, the M6 lens is 0.35 pitch. Standard screw sizes M3 = 0.5mm pitch, M2=0.4mm. Not going to be much it focus wise. The Sony Trinicon tube looks to be about 10mm. Triple Lens Super 8mm, great idea, should be a better match. Maybe even get a Zero and battery into the case? We could call ...

Got DIN cases from RS or maybe Element14.
