Watchdog & RAM Memory page

Hi,

I discovered the watchdog function ( near the bottom of http://k3a.me/how-to-make-raspberrypi-t ... uble-free/)

Question:
For the min-memory setting in /etc/watchdog.conf it refers to memory pages.

What is the size of a memory page for the Raspberry Pi?

Thanks
Nico

Problem with Camera mmal_vc_component_create: failed to crea

Hi, I have a Raspberry Pi B+ with a PiNoir camera. I'm using the 9 Sept 2014 Raspian image (not NOOBS) With SD card 1 all works fine. With SD Card 2 I repeatedly get this error: pi@raspberrypi ~ $ raspistill -o t1.jpg mmal: mmal_vc_component_create: failed to create component 'vc.ril.camera' (1:ENOM...

What is the best way of reading the EXT4 section of an SD card?

Reading EXT4 on Windows 8

Hi,

Is there a way to read data files from the EXT4 section of an SD card on Windows?

I found this article http://www.howtogeek.com/112888/3-ways- ... m-windows/

Obviously it is a high risk to write to EXT4 from Windows.

Thanks

Re: Problems with usb_modeswitch

Hi Douglas, thanks for your comments. I added the script to the init.d sequence - and it did not work as expected. After removing it from there, I added it to the rc.local file, like /root/3GModem.sh & and it worked like a charm. Question: It seems as if udevadm trigger is a bit of a sledge hammer a...

Problems with usb_modeswitch

Hi, I want to connect via a 3G modem to the internet. I installed via apt-get install ppp wvdial usb-modeswitch When I POWERUP, with the modem in a 4-port hub (with keyboard), the mode does not switch. If I remove the modem from the hub for 10 seconds and place it back, it appears correctly - and /d...

CPU overtemperature protection

Hi, Is there any automatic protection should the CPU temperature go to high? At the moment I'm reading /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp and getting temperatures of 64°C. What is the maximum safe temperature for the Model B+? My application has to run outside in desert conditions. Thanks Nico

Why use VNC and not XRDP?

Hi, Reading the forums and Twitters, it seems as if preference is given to TightVNC server and not XRDP. However, I found that XRDP installs complete to even start when booting (sudo apt-get install xrdp) This is much easier than configuring TightVNCServer. Is there reason for the preference to use ...

I'm suffering from the same issue - good to know I'm not alone :)

For which devices does one need CDRom support?

Only for CD-Roms (And DVD?)

Or does this include support for USB memory sticks as well?

Thanks
