Re: ext3/4 and SD-card wear leveling

ramstrong, It would be a good idea to mount a small discardable SD card on an external USB reader for unimportant, but write-frequent files such as log files. First thing for an ultra-reliable system is to make the root partition read only. Anything that needs writing can go to a USB stick or other...

Re: ext3/4 and SD-card wear leveling

A small question: due the fact that sd has wear problem why not use it only for root and use an external usb hdd drive for the os? For sure it will be slower but for not intensive usage could be nice. Suggestions? This is a good question. I'm wondering which directories are active? I know to tarbal...

I use mplayer. If you're okay with software renderer and framedrop, you may want to check it out.

Hardware-wise, Driver-wise: I don't know.
Software-wise: whatever the man pages tell you. I tried everything software-wise, and nothing works. YMMV.

Re: motion images coming out blue/dark

I have that cheap HP cam on sale (can't remember the model) and my blacks comes out blue/green. This is because the software driver does auto color-correction, and is obviously out-of-standard-range adjustment. The problem goes away when I open the curtain and let sunlight in. So, if you're working ...

Re: Transfer from 8 to 32 gb card

I don't know how important the 'bs=1m' is, but it seemed to appear in every blog and post detailing how to use DD for imaging Raspberry Pi cards, and it always seems to work. BlockSize=1m is there for efficiency reason, so I don't think it matters. I suspect that you didn't unmount the volume befor...

Re: Transfer from 8 to 32 gb card

Use a computer to take an image of the 8GB card. Restore the image to then 32GB card. Boot the 32GB card in the Raspberry Pi and use Raspi-Config to expand the image to fill the new card. I did dd if=/dev/mmcblko of=/dev/sda from 16GB to 32 GB. Does not even boot. from 16GB to 16 GB. Aborted due to...

Re: Can not restore backup.img

Thanks for the help. Once more into the breach, I guess. I'll do an rsync -axv / /media/flashcardwhatever, then write it back out to a another SD card. Will try to do that partition some other time. I think all this trouble comes from the fact that gparted does not read the existing partition correc...

Re: Can not restore backup.img

I have a 32 GB flashdrive I can reformat to ext4 for tarball, no problem. I tried rsync, and it works for /home directory, but for / directory, lots of problems. In the end, I rsync these directories /boot /home /usr /bin /etc /sbin /opt /lib The system hangs when trying to rsync /sys. So, that's no...

Re: Can not restore backup.img

I have that trouble, too, copying 16 GB to 16 GB results in "not enough space". I tried to repartition the SD card to smaller size, but for some reason, even though I can see 4 partition in /dev, I only see one big unallocated chunk in gparted. What gives? How do I resize the partition so it'll be s...

Re: SDL: image and drawing something

Looks like you have an extra flip. You have image-flip-lines-flip, where you should have image-lines-flip.
