Re: Pi with ATX PSU on 5vStandBy, wants to control other outputs using GPIO

A standard transistor as a switch circuit should do the trick. See https://elinux.org/RPi_GPIO_Interface_Circuits#Using_an_NPN_transistor Green wire to collector. GPIO to base Ground to emitter Set GPIO high to turn on PSU, low to turn it off. Current flow should be minimal so you don't need a high ...

Hello. I have this python code: from picamera import PiCamera camera.resolution = (500, 500) camera.start_preview() If that's you entire program I'm not surprised. It'll run, create the picamera object, tell it to start the preview then immediately exit. On exit there'll be cleanup done by python a...

Re: Mini PC with DVD and HDD

Thank you guys for the answers! :) But wouldn't be simpler to buy raspberry PI 3+ with some powered USB hub and connect DVD and HDD into it? And use i.e. Ubuntu Mate? Simpler that what I suggested? Yes. The downside is that by doing so you'll end up with something that doesn't look like a tradition...

Re: How to prepare complete OS and software for multiple stations

That would need changing anyway in a multi-user networked environment. In a multi machine network environment, yes. Not so much in a multi-user environment. Hence my script above. And, admittedly I'm being picky here, the image wouldn't be an ISO. .iso is specifically for optical discs not SD cards.

...or change the hostname of the source every time before starting each cloning process. Its a bit tedious, and you'll have to mark each microSD card with the host name .....to prevent confusion later on. Which is a right PITA. Which is why I wrote the script linked above. Though granted that was f...

Re: How to prepare complete OS and software for multiple stations

I'm not looking to have a server-client setup. I want all machines to be stand-alone peers. I found https://lifehacker.com/how-to-clone-your-raspberry-pi-sd-card-for-super-easy-r-1261113524 , but I'm not sure it applies to multiple different RPi's. That's an old article (from 2013) so while it may ...

As you haven't posted the error messages or your code we don't know what it is you're asking the meaning of and consequently we have no idea what needs fixing let alone how.

Nothing that's going to help you succeed. DOSBox emulates a whole computer. WINE(*1) duplicates the windows libraires and API calls. It does no emulation so can't run programs that were written/compiled for an entirely different CPU architecture(*2). Something running in DOSBox almost cerrtainly kno...

Re: Mini PC with DVD and HDD

TBH, you'd probably find a second hand laptop much easier to setup, use, and maintain. If you can't find one with a DVD drive built in just use a UBS one. If going the Pi 4B route, consider this (it's how I built my NAS but with 3.5" drives) Get yourself a small PC case with ATX PSU (I used an old m...

Re: Buster OS Bugs

I think I'm going to back away slowly from this thread. Much as I sometimes enjoy a good arguemnt, it has to be one that's rational, polite, where all sides have the evidence to back up their positions, and are willing to change their minds. This doesn't fit into that category. user12345 clearly has...

This thread gets more odd with every day. Still unsure what the problem actually is. But... TBH, neither am I. A risk of invoking the ban hammer, several of the developers I used to work with would file this one under one of these categories: An ID 10 T error. Problem between keyboard and chair. Fr...

sudo is a useful tool but like any tool it makes every problem look like the right tool is sudo ("if you have a hammer evey problem looks like a nail") It has it's place. As does su. I'd also argue that sudo with no root password is better than su with a weak root password though sudo is only as sec...

Re: Buster OS Bugs

The best advice for the OP is 1. Find the packaging your RPi was delivered in. 2. Insert your RPi and any other bits of kit that came with it in that packaging 3. Create an RMA with your vendor 4. Return your RPi under the RMA 5. Get a refund 6. Cancel your forum membership 7. ... er. 8. That's it....

Re: How to turn a raspberry pi 2 into a RJ45-to-USB Network adapter?

While I've never attempted what you desire, using an OTG cable at the phone end isn't the way to go. An OTG cable tells your phone to act as a USB master. The USB ports on a 2B also act as a USB master. USB is a master/slave system with one master and many slaves. Two masters on the sasme USB bus wo...

How much power can I pull out of a Pi 4's USB ports? In volts pls in volts? 5 But volts don't measure power, that's watts. With the recommended PSU that's 6 shared across all four USB ports. However I suspect that still isn't the answer you're looking for. I'm guessing that by "power" you mean curr...
