Re: Barebones TV tuner app

All that said, I'm wondering if the over head of tvbackend and the separate front end is still just a bit too much for the Pi. Ideally, I would like to have an app that connects to the USB tuner and then decodes it directly rather than the multi process setup that I'm currently using. At the very l...

Re: Building a media center

All is in MP4 format. My fear is more a hardware issue. Will I be able to run multiple hard drives at once? I have films on one, TV series on two others but want to select between them at will. Will a usb hub work with the pi to cover me so this works? Sure, as long as you provide enough power to t...

Back in the days when this convention originated, hard drives were inside the box, and you had to dismantle and reassemble your computer before you'd see a device ID change.

The advent of USB-connected storage changed that paradigm.

Re: Set up a remote HDD

For the last day or two I've tried in vain to set up a sort of remote HDD accessible from anywhere in the world. I am thinking along the lines of a NAS but accessible remotely via sftp. I can set up all the drives just fine and access the drives/pi locally quite easily. Its when I try to access it ...

I thought my problem isn't so special but unfortunately I didn't find any solution to it, so I decided to post here. Maybe someone comes up with an easy answer :) So I want to use my RPi at home to enable download of photos to friends of mine. Unfortunately my upload rate is some kind of limited so...

There's nothing specific for the sites you mention, but you could have a look at get-flash-videos which works for a number of sites.

Otherwise, you're much more likely to have success with add-ons

I currently run Pi model B, 2xHDD, 3xDVB-T off a hub powered by a 5A PSU, and it all works just fine.

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 Wifi and ethernet Router ?

I would like to know if creating subnets and a DHCP server on a pi is complicated (I have never used it before, so I am very new at pi) There's nothing particularly special about the Pi in this regard - it's just like any other Linux/Unix box. Of course if you've never done any networking using a s...

1. Is it possible to install the antenna to the Pi? 2. is it possible to share this connection to wifi and ethernet at the same time? 3. is this something doabble with the pi, or should i get a minipc with windows to do this? 1. Probably, but without knowing make & model, all anyone can do is guess...

Put OS on external HDD too because of risk breaking sd card when running OS purely from sd card for let's hope years? Will be room for that since I'm thinking building custom housing for the system. *OS, Ope...

My question is: Is get-iplayer is working fine within the UK? Have look at the get_iplayer forums https://squarepenguin.co.uk/all-forums/ - they specifically do not support users outside the U.K. so won't help with your problems, but you'll see pretty quickly on there if things stop working in the ...

Re: Turning Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Into a Home PC

Regarding a case, I would suggest that trying to produce your own custom case will be very expensive and time consuming. Better would be something mass-produced that can be attached to a VESA mount on the back of a monitor, perhaps with a mounting clip to hold an optional external HDD. Make sure you...

When connecting from school I still run into the firewall, blocking the whole page. Most likely they are blocking all but a limited number of ports. Try using a port they don't block. Presumably you have port forwarding set up on your router to direct port 3128 to squid on your Pi. If your router s...
