Note that your external HD will work best if it's formatted ext4 - if it's formatted with NTFS it will work but there will be extra CPU load.

Re: Poss 2Play & Record Live TV? Wi-Fi Ability & Play TV Cat

Also to both of you, I can definitely record live TV or from a TV guide for Freeview TV by doing / putting the above together? Can you point me in the right direction at all for how much the maximum compatibility is for expandable storage via USB Flash Drivers, as you can pick up a 64GB quite cheap...

Re: Poss 2Play & Record Live TV? Wi-Fi Ability & Play TV Cat

Firstly I've just read this evening that XBMC has now split effectively in to two communities, so you have to install both XBMC, then both 'fusion' and 'xunity'. So if I read up on both of these to see what their package offers, then I'd find out what kind of features? So do I need to choose an act...

Re: Poss 2Play & Record Live TV? Wi-Fi Ability & Play TV Cat

Hi Hiro, Thank you for the reply, it's much appreciated. It's minefield to get one's head around for choosing the right R-PI OS and then choosing the right Media Center with the likes of XBMC, RASPBMC, Xbian, Openelec and so forth but in your opinion which one turns out to the best do you think? I ...

Re: Poss 2Play & Record Live TV? Wi-Fi Ability & Play TV Cat

You want to: - Connect to the TV via HDMI. - Able to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi. - To Run XBMC (Is this the best way to achieve this part - http://www.openelec.tv/component/content/article?id=1 ? ) as we want to install the UK TV catchup services. - Record live TV (Similar to Sky+ or Freeview...

Re: RaspBMc wifi issues and which setup is best?

I have will be settin up two Pi's as media centers. On the first it will not have a wired network connection. I want to be able to connect to it using wifi and access and control the media center. On the second, as well as using it as a media center, I want to connect it to my TV's LAN connection. ...

Re: Media Centre Idea need feedback

i find it that the Amber theme works nicely and fluidly. i use openelec and turned off RSS feeds and did the tweaks for Rpi found in faq. interface works fluently. haven't tried playing HD movies yet. edit: the main reason i used openeelec is because i couldn't get youtube plugin to work in raspbmc...

Re: Media Centre Idea need feedback

Hi all.. Just orded a Rpi and awaiting delivery... I am hoping to build a capable media player to attach to my main TV. My plan is to have a single enclosure with a USB HDD and USB Bluray, a small tranformer with 2 x 12v AC will be rectified and stepped down to 5v DC.. That will give me more than e...

Correct - that's a good point. I'll check my solder joints on the composite output jack .

Re: Noise bars in composite video

OK, extremely weird. I tried a different monitor and the problem went away. Then when I went back to the original, the problem had gone there too. Maybe I had a loose connector or something, though I'd removed & replaced this system from that monitor several times.

Noise bars in composite video

I'm running a raspbmc setup with wifi & usb HDD [via a powered hub], all powered by a 5A 5V psu. Everything is working well, except that I'm seeing noise bars in the composite video output, corresponding to loud audio in the shows I'm watching. I've not tried HDMI. I put a 4700uf capacitor across th...
