Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Unfortunately, this may be a logitech issue: I have the same problem as you, that I cant get a higher resolution in opencv different "application". But with the Logitech Software I am able to record videos in 720p (camera C270 ). After some days of research, I came to the same explanation as @break ...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Peter, I have had no problems such as you have encountered, but I can hazard a guess why: I noticed some of the new camera code that lets both raspivoice and teradeep operate simultaneously has a hard coded resolution in one of the files. I believe this hard coded resolution is 1280x720. Obviously i...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Non after sight hardware users will be pleased to know some effort has been put in to getting things working with a USB number pad in mind. I purchased one today, and based my dev off that. of course a regular keyboard can be used just as easily. I assume (not always smart) that number pads are all ...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

I am using the github desktop client and notepad ++. I don't know what my problem is. I'm sure I will sort it out, I have naturally looked at extensions, and everything 'seemed' to be ok, but obviously is not. I'm currently making my additions (it's going well), but I have a request: I need to under...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

So I had to resize the SD image. I was able to shrink it to under 8GB. (It's closer to 6.3 GB total right now). The way I did this was to use a gparted live CD. When I finish up, I will likely have to continue with SD images until I can figure out how to make git work properly for me. It seems when ...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Thanks, Will do this later today and add some more including better vibration, an distance readout. Over the next few days I will make sure the raspivoice lag gets fixed, and try to add keypad functions for those without the electronics. This should all be the basis for a much better experience. Add...

virtual line following

Hello automation sensing and robotics: I am highly interested in a unique problem for a computer vision application. I am part of an effort located at this thread: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=49634 We have built an open source vision assistance device for blind people tha...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

As for the PINE, I am interested to see how all the new single board computers that are coming to market pan out. One feature I like on the PINE is the integrated battery charging. That will save about $20/unit on top of being cheaper than the rpi v2. I'm all for experimenting. I occasionally order ...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

I have been in touch with Pete Warden who was a main driver behind jetpac. It was fairly clear from his email that there are no additional networks available, and that since he is now working for google on tensor flow, any future support is probably going to be nil (but tensor flow will very likely ...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

The disclaimer should go away after the first boot. If it doesn't, delete /home/pi/introtext.txt Accepting the disclaimer occurs when you proceed to use the device. Menu.py is where you could add keyboard functions to make use of the device, though I plan on doing this in the near future to make use...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

in the meantime, examine aftersight.cfg in the /home/pi folder It has the settings that are currently being saved. Adding more has to happen both in that file, and in the code the references both reading from and writing the settings back to the file. If you wanted to add configuration variables, an...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

The first problem we need to solve is to get the menu talking while raspbivoice is running. I hope you just mean the menu for raspivoice, and not the main menu that launches the programs. If you want to hear what happens when you make the main menu stop being quiet it's actually quite easy. Go into...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Mr Indoj: I am quite keen to test this out! perhaps it would be best if you post an image when you think you have your initial bugs worked out? Then I can just redo my bits in a few days on that foundation? Essentially it sounds like: 1. You are using image files, and an empty file as a flag to indi...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Pranav, I am currently syncing a new image which has the following changes: 1. added distance readout to jetpac and teradeep. It read like this: "x.x meters" and the values range between 0.3 and 5 meters. This is read immediately after the objects. 2. added a configurable setting for making the dist...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

I found another 16gb card and was able to flash the image with teradeep. I can't wait to demonstrate that to other people. The everyday objects that get found are much better than the other networks. I also find the interval is about 5 seconds which is just a hair above what I was getting from jetpa...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Unfortunately I don't get to play yet because my 16gb card is just.a little too small for that image. It turns out each SD card manufacturer makes them in slightly different sizes. As a result, I looked into procedures that can prevent this problem from happening. There are ways to resize the filesy...
