Re: Will my SD card work if i put it in a new Pi (but same m

Quickly being able to swap or clone an SD card is one of selling points of the Pi. It's the main answer to the "can't you just use a laptop to learn programming?". As pointed out the only issue with cloning is that not all cards of the same capacity are exactly the same size. I'd recommend labeling ...

Re: Advice for a portable, battery powered Pi camera

I think 8 hours would be pushing it with a 5000mAh battery. I would estimate 6-7 hours. The current draw on a B+ would be about 475mA with WiFi and the camera running. I based this on my Android app "Pi Power Estimator" :) As for cats the Pi, camera and battery is far too heavy and bulky. Downgrade ...

Re: LED doens't blink :(

If you want to use physical pin numbers you use : GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BOARD) If you want to use GPIO numbers you use : GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BCM) Your code is using physical board pin 11 (GPIO17) but you've connected your LED to Pin 23 (GPIO11). Connect your LED to Pin 11 and it should work. Here is my Mo...

Re: RPi b+ and PiFace Controls and Display

It fits the B+ but sits at a slight angle because of the USB ports. You also need to stick some tape on the PCB where it touches the USB port.

Re: Small high capacity battery

I would find a USB power bank that fits the space. They often have 1 and 2A outputs. I've had a few review products from RAVPower and Lumsing. Beware of unbranded devices making false claims about capacity. In general they all use the same cells internally so capacity is proportional to size. Over t...

Don't buy flash media from eBay.

If it's cheaper than a proper shop it is probably fake. The counterfeit rate is so high it just isn't work the risk or the hassle!

Before buying a Banana Pi I would checkout the available support. Forums, documentation, blogs, social media etc. When you get stuck who ya gonna call? By all means buy one for fun but it could just end up in a drawer if you need any help. The BPi has been around for a while now and nothing has impr...

Almost certainly the wires not being connected to the LCD. Resting them against the PCB pads is not going to give guaranteed connectivity. Remember that even solder joints can prevent a circuit working even if it looks like there is metal against metal. In the photos above the Pi is a Model B Rev 2 ...

I've got a couple of those screens. They are 12V centre-positive. Make sure they are connected before you boot the pi and there is no HDMI cable connected.

You need to wrap your code in

Code: Select all

tags so it keeps the indentation. Otherwise if people cut and paste it won't work as intended.

Don't forget to format first with SDFormatter from official SD org site. Never had a single issue with Raspbian image and win32diskimager. SanDisk, Transcend, Kingston ... 2-32GB ... Class 4-10. Only tend to use full size SD cards. Also you can't trust flash memory from eBay. Buy from trustworthy re...

For anyone following my tutorial originally quoted at the start of this thread remember that the voltage divider bit is important! It ensures you don't feed the 5V echo signal into a GPIO pin that really wants 3.3V.

Also you probably want to use getTilePos rather than getPos as it will give you integers rather than floats.

Code: Select all

playerPosition = mc.player.getTilePos()
blockType = mc.getBlock(playerPosition.x, playerPosition.y - 1, playerPosition.z)

The 680ohm should work. You could also use 2 165ohm resistors in series giving you 370.
