Re: £600... what would you order?

Network depends on your needs aka the school policy for internet. - no internet allowed, no intranet allowed, no need for connections for the curriculum: leave them standalone. - no internet allowed, no intranet allowed, but need for connections for the curriculum: place another RPi with webserver o...

Re: £600... what would you order?

Hello, Monitor, I prefer the ASUS VE228HR. Audio included. Image is acceptable. SD Cards, prepare to have at least two per Pi. When you update operating system and/or system settings offline (outside school times), it can be a challenge to finalize these till next event. With two cards per PI, leave...

Re: Automatically Host Mesh when starting Scratch

Hello, think the only solution is to have an external (scratch-)client sending the start code, unless you are willing to tweak scratch. . Either use simplesi's solution, or try this http://www.heppg.de/ikg/administration/pi/scratchClient/doc/scratchClient.pdf http://www.heppg.de/ikg/administration/p...

I have added the file to my post.
Btw: extension 'sb' is not allowed for the forum, is there a chance to allow this ?

Good morning, created a project on RPi, moved this to windows and did not read in correctly. error.png Wanted to check the remote connections, but can't enable the connections (right click on sensing, variables does not work). Greetings, Gerhard edit: added the scratch projekt. xxx.zip unpack please

Re: Automatically Host Mesh when starting Scratch

Hello, what I understand from your post is: you want to run scratch on a RaspberryPi with no keyboard or mouse attached. Scratch should automagically start, with remote sensor connections enabled. There is a description for this problem in http://www.penguintutor.com/news/raspberrypi/scratchautostar...

Re: scratch talking to external process

Update: there is a possible flaw in the spi frequency setting: in scratchClient/src/adapter/spiAdapter.py, line 66, change the freq to 2000000. Should look like def writeValue(self, spi, channel, data): spi.max_speed_hz = 2000000 # print(data) r = spi.xfer2(data) return r This should give reproducib...

Re: scratch talking to external process

Hello, thank you for the feedback. The code was developed in the last months during my daily travel to work in train on a windows machine. This is the reason for the strange import statements, hiding errors when libs are not available. The usage in my classroom group is always with scratch and scrat...

Hello, I made some changes in my scratchClient and added something which I called WS2801_Adapter. It is not fully tested, as I do not own a led stripe. But when you look into the code, you will find your way. Download latest code from http://www.heppg.de/ikg/administration/pi/scratchClient/download/...

Re: scratch talking to external process

Hello, when 'remote sensor connections' in scratch are enabled, scratch opens a port 42001 and waits for clients to connect. Communication packets start with 4 byte binary length information and then plain text string. Length is length of text string. Scratch sends: - broadcast <name> whenever scrat...

Re: Scratch without tears

Hello, some thoughts: Think there is no 'autosave' functionality. It is up to you to save the project frequently. As far as I understand scratch, saving a project is storing everything (images, scripts, variables, positions of images on stage etc). Making different named files is a good approach. It...

fun project: remote controlling scratch

Hello, running an afterschool workshop for 7th grade kids with scratch, I have access to quite a lot of RPI. So one idea was to establish scratch to scratch communication between different computers. The setup is straightforward: on each RPi, a 'scratchClient' software communicates with local scratc...

screencast

Hallo,

Hello, your problem seems to be similiar to the report from 'Loonhaunt': http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=63393 . There seems to be a problem with restarting the connection between piface software and scratch. Restarting the pi and scratch/piface could be a workaround. Scratch i...

Re: Scratch Stepper Motor Piface

Hello, I do not know what piface is doing here, but let me point out some ideas on scratch here. Instead of setting the wait period with a calculation each time, I would recommend to set sleep to 0.00025 and use this directly in each of the wait blocks. Keep in mind, that scratch communicates via a ...
