Re: Using Pi 4 With Only HDMI 1

Just cut the dongle with a knife... thug life!
The plastic switches to transparent before the circuitry is exposed so you can stop before it's too late... at least on mine it did.

Re: High Wattage Remote Relay

Sure, trying to think out of the box... like I only need to turn the thing ON remotely... so gravity could be my switch... Rube Goldberg etc. etc. What is that smell? ;) I ended up buying from this seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-Relay-Module-Interface-Boards-for-Arduino-Low-Level-Trigger-1-2-4-...

Re: High Wattage Remote Relay

Ok, thanks for the input.

The last one I found apparently has some tricky setup because they ship them with the more advanced SPI remote.

The octal relays look like they are more what I'm looking for, but I wish they came with 5V and GPIO friendly amperage to operate.

Tricky this.

Re: High Wattage Remote Relay

Heater, on/off very rarely. I really only found these so far: https://www.bc-robotics.com/shop/raspberry-pi-4-channel-relay-hat/ But I'm really concerned with their PCB and relay components, I'll probably loose the insurance using these. Edit: wait found these now: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Energenie...

High Wattage Remote Relay

Just before I start I know this is a touchy subject, specially with British that have very stringent electric security requirements so I will try to thread as carefully as I can. I'm trying to build a remote relay that can support >1500W AC. Now before you light this thread on fire, I know this is r...

Re: Java future on ARM

Do you have a public tracker for the software projects you are working on?

I'm very pleased to see the missing software to make Aeon Alpha run on a raspberry was fixed in about one year. (rpi audio and Java pulse)

But I cannot imagine what software is now still in limbo?

Re: Java future on ARM

"it will have to have updates" - Why? In this particular case where the future of Java on ARM is at stake (the old OpenJDK ARM release is like 4x slower than the Oracle JDK one) it makes sense to just push a "most recent" build periodically to the raspbian repository until we can ascertain that the ...

Re: Java future on ARM

@fruitoftheloom They don't have to support it, it's open source.

So when is the release of Raspbian Buster planned for?

@jamesh Yes, can I just add the debian repository to apt-get for that? https://packages.debian.org/buster/armh ... k/download

Re: Java future on ARM

Ok, feels a bit like "pushing the problem onto someone else". Found this: https://blogs.oracle.com/jtc/build-jdk-10-for-your-raspberry-pi-right-on-your-device And it makes more sense if someone "trusted" does this once and puts it on the raspbian repository, than everyone compiling this for 3.5 hour...

Java future on ARM

So with the new "DIY" approach from Oracle; when can one expect to see a "fully performant (same JVM core performance as the current Oracle JDK) and open source" version of the OpenSDK JDK on apt-get?

Some say Java 10 is the version I'm looking for, some say Java 11... it's messy!

Now you can buy 10 20 of these for 11.50 15.50$ (expensive I know, but only volume, as in orders, can bring the price down; classic catch 22): 10x pogo pins https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/20pcs-Spring-Loaded-Pogo-Pin-Connector-Barrel-Diameter-2-0-mm-Through-Holes-PCB-Height-6/1264152_32865...

Re: Pogo pins and 2x hat standard

Custom pins from Hong Kong arrived today. 8x pins bend the PCB slightly, so you probably can't use more than 20x at the same time. But other than that, these are perfect! http://move.rupy.se/file/pogo_pins_final.png Found 1mm bolts and nuts to clamp the PCBs in the middle if you need more pins: http...

With latest Raspbian and 3B+ gets you flawless experience on Raspberry with 33-34 FPS "smoothness" and thermal situation under control!

Only the text to speech is lagging a bit, but that's ok... Edit: on RPi 4 speech does not lag any more, seems out-of-order execution is really important for that?

Zero USB Ethernet

I have installed Raspbian on a Zero and successfully SSH:ed to it before but with the latest Raspbian it does not seem to work?

And yes I have written the ssh file in the right place and the ssh works fine on my RPi3.
