Win-95 sliding menu animations in Win10

For some (unknown) reason, Windows 10 has started randomly (~70% of the time) using something like the old Windows 95/98-style sliding-menu animations when I right click. Odd. It's never done that before, so why would it now?

Turn your handwriting into a font!

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this before, but I found this article, and if you have a scanner and some free time, it's actually a pretty neat idea!

Re: GAMES LIST: Games That Work On The Pi

Yeah, I have a $100 Adafruit voucher somewhere (from an Instructables competition, as I recall. They were meant to send me an Intel Edison starter kit with the Grove seeed starter kit. Got lost in the post, so they just gave me this instead. Rather have had the Edison though :( ). Probably it will g...

Re: Solar eclipse experiments

I guess you'll have fun telling them what to do :D : In 2012, Randall Munroe of the webcomic xkcd published a description of the Saturn V rocket using only the 1000 most frequent words in English. Under this restriction, the rocket was called "up-goer five," the command module was "people box," and ...

Re: An idea for Headless Operation.

With Python. You could have a simple web server (which is actually easier than you think - Python has a web server module built-in), and have it serve "non-existing" pages, i.e: whatever you see in your web browser would be determined by the server. It could display a lit of commands, and maybe use ...

Re: Question on why no onboard flash

I have a couple of sdcards setup so the root partition is on a hard disk the only writes the SD card gets is when I upgrade the OS ... Neat idea. My Desktop (i.e: PC) Linux is on a USB drive. Works OK, I guess. Don't know what I'll do when it finally gives way (although that won't be for a few year...

What is it about a locked thread that just makes you think of something really insightful to write? Start a new thread! Mods have been discussing this recently - been a couple of impressive thread necros! Not sure whether to auto close threads after a certain time period, or just let them die off a...

Basically it's (usually) an old neutron star that has collapsed onto (or is it unto?) itself. The rotating stuff is usually dust, or, if it's close to another star, whatever that star contains, e.g: helium (for an old-ish star).

I guess that's a bit correct? I'm not sure myself.

Re: over complicated windows installation!!

....the fact is that MS has a different objective/operating-constraints-set than either OSX or Linux. That is, it has to be end-user installable (although it almost certainly won't be, in practice) and it has to work 100% of the time (or as close to that as is humanly possible). If you have a versi...

3rd party software to render c4d files?

Is there any third-party or alternate software that can render Cinema4d files as either a video or image? I expect not, as there is a lot of of Cinema4D specific features. But I guess that you could make an addon/plug in?

Encryption - The codebreakers thread

I've though of an idea. Forum users can post encrypted strings below, give a hint or a word or two to how they are encrypted, and the rest of us have to decode it. Nothing like AES though, and you may want to rate it on the encryption level - from the Caesar Cipher to Enigma to AES? Rules (in develo...

Upgraded! It shoved my 8.1 installation into a folder, so all my software is still there. Just most of them don't run due to missing DLLs. One of them was registered to me as well, so that's going to be hard to get another copy. I like the idea of the start menu becoming small again Much neater. The...
