Re: Teaching Scratch In Primary Schools

You could try looking at some of the Scratch Patch articles in the MagPi too. There are a range of projects, from simple to complex with and without hardware added on: http://magpiindex.steverigg.co.uk/index.php and then search for Scratch patch using the pull down menu. When teaching primary childr...

Re: £600... what would you order?

That's where you and your IT suppliers/techy folks are going to need some careful discussions. Do you let kids take school laptops home? Do you allow them to connect a smartphone? In other environments where guest laptops are connected to a network, we used a NATed private network with port blockin...

Re: Get CPU usage (%) in a C program

Hi,

Try taking at look at the source file for the top command,

machine/m_linux.c
(get_system_info function)

The source code of the top command is at:

Re: Reset OS password

If your system is setup to login automatically, you can

Code: Select all

sudo passwd pi
and put a new password, without having to give the previous one.

Re: Lego RCX/NXT robotic programming with Pi.

Hi,

Have you tried using a BrickPi
http://www.dexterindustries.com/BrickPi/
?

It is a much cheaper solution that allows the Raspberry Pi to be used to directly talk to LEGO motors and sensors. It can programmed with C, Python or Scratch.

In case it is useful, try looking at:

The logic needs to be flipped if you're interested in checking when the door is opened.

Re: GPIO Inputs

Hi, You could either use a program to poll or a program with a call back function. The call back function is a better route for your application, since it uses ~0 CPU power. #!/usr/bin/env python # import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import sys, time,os,subprocess def callback_down(channel): print('Down detected...

IPads can be very handy for some things. For example, a local music teacher has a great time with his. He can carry all his music, metronome and other teaching tools around in his IPad. They are quite handy for some home computing applications, such as photo viewing. Issuing IPads to a computing cla...

Re: Help with BrickPi Please!

If you start with a fresh Raspbian image, the instructions on the BrickPi site should work. They were tested last month and a couple of small fixes were made. Can you start from a clean SD card image and then follow the instructions one after another? If you get any warnings or error messages, can ...

Re: BrickPi

Hi, It seems not all of the fixes have made it onto the installation page yet. The package installation line for a clean Raspbian image should be: apt-get install -y python-smbus i2c-tools python-serial libi2c-dev python-setuptools You do not need to install, python-rpi.gpio since it has been in Ras...

Qt rebuild using qreal as double: performance hit?

There used to be a Dietrich Wiegandt (sys. admin. of the CERN VAX), but he left sometime ago.
