Re: Getting Nano into monochrome !

Hi Tim
Try this one
sudo nano /usr/share/nano/nanorc.nanorc

There's quite a few colour config files in the folder
/usr/share/nano/

Re: Getting Nano into monochrome !

Hi Tim,
If you press ALT-Y, that will disable colours in the file currently open. The configuration file is usually stored in
/etc/nanorc
it has all the colour settings in there.
You can edit that with
sudo nano /etc/nanorc

Re: Model A price point

I bought both my Pis from Farnell because I bought them separately and it worked out a bit cheaper than RS. If you buy more than one Pi at the same time then RS is the place to get them, as they do charge $25ish ($25.81 to be exact) for the Model A and $35 for Model B, both prices ex vat and deliver...

You do know that without programming, in the long term, you can't have practical computing, don't you?

Re: Boot on RAID Question

Hi again, What about rootdelay=5 You can probably guess what the 5 does (you could try a higher number if 5 isn't enough). It's a generic kernel option, not the same as rootwait, it should delay booting long enough for your USBs to be ready to mount. If that doesn't work I'll apologise now for wasti...

Re: Boot on RAID Question

I'm no expert but what about adding waitusb=5 to the end of the line in cmdline.txt (5 being the number of seconds to wait, it can be any number). It makes the kernel wait for usb devices to be detected, if that is what the actual problem is. I don't know if it works with all kernels as I've never h...

Re: Which Debian distro for the desktop?

Here's a list of 34 Debian/KDE based distros from Distrowatch (in order of popularity according to page hits) http://distrowatch.com/search.php?ostype=All&category=All&origin=All&basedon=Debian¬basedon=None&desktop=KDE&architecture=All&status=Active I'm not saying they're all good but it's a star...

Re: Cost in pounds of RaspberryPi

Remember, there is no such thing as free shipping. $35 = £21.57. RS sells Raspberry Pis for £21.60 ex VAT & delivery CPC sell them for £24.96 ex VAT but including 'free shipping'. So if you're buying more than one Pi then you'd save money on the 'free shipping' by getting them from RS. Ten Pis from ...
