Can you run http://pisnes.googlecode.com/files/sdljoystick on your Pi with the joystick plugged in. It will say how many axis there are.

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

New version released: * Fix for "roms" configuration not read in the frontend. * Added graphics options to the config file for display border, display stretch disable. pjturpeau, I don't know what the sound problems are, I don't hear any issues. It's most probably issues with the sound in MAME 0.37 ...

I'll put a fix in for this. And I'll add an option to stretch the video.

That's normal with SDL input, you need to use the "console" not a remote connection like SSH.

Thanks Welshy! I don't experience any of those problems you mention. I'd appreciate an "issue" created for it on the code website.

PiSNES released - Super Nintendo emulator

I've released a SNES emulator for the Pi. It's based on v1.39 of SNES9X and highly "tuned" for the Raspberry Pi (dispmanx, ALSA audio, SDL for input), with configurable input. Most games run at full speed. Yes it's a very old version of SNES9X but it runs at a good speed on the Pi but won't play a n...

Re: Programming MAME Emulator to start on boot

Here's what I use, warning this can mess up your Pi booting if you get it wrong! It will also automatically login rather than prompt for a login and password!!! Also before doing this make sure MAME4ALL runs OK in the console (not in X-Windows). Add the following to the end of your $HOME/.profile if...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

I've uploaded a test version of MAME4ALL here http://mame4all-pi.googlecode.com/git/mametest.zip It has a workaround for those having problems on HDMI with mono. The mame.cfg contains a new variable called "force_stereo" which makes mono games into stereo. Unzip the zip into /usr/local/bin/indiecity...

Dom, it's sounding perfect now on MAME4ALL! ALSA period sizes are back to "normal" too.

There's no "pop" on audio open/close too on analogue.

Re: Popping noise on analog output

dom, I've just updated to the latest firmware version and the sound is very broken with ALSA - bad static, very quiet. My MAME4ALL had pretty much perfect audio (analogue & HDMI) with 2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian or earlier. My sound code is based on RetroArch but uses quite different ALSA initialisat...

yottskry, I've no idea what your problem is. All I can suggest is use the latest version of Raspbian wheezy, no overclocking, install the Pi Store version of MAME4ALL and make sure your ROMS validate using Clrmamepro or test with the DOS version of MAME 0.37b5. The clrmamepro.dat file to use is in t...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Kiosk mode is quite simple really - it just won't exit when in the frontend.. There's a new configuration option in mame.cfg.

I wouldn't worry about just powering off the Pi, there's nothing being written to the SD when in the frontend and the ext4 filesystem is very resilient.

I've had that when using Mac and the dd command. Try using the Windows official diskimage writer, which works perfectly for me on the same SD card.

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

It's best if you use the Pi Store version as that will have the most up-to-date version and it will be installed correctly. Upgrading is easy, simply run Pi Store, look at the "My Library" and it will detect there is a new version. Simply download the update and install it. It doesn't delete anythin...
