Re: Starting out!

The pi cam might be what you are looking for but it might not as it's got some limitations compared to something 10x the price ( there is an arbitrary eposure limit, and it needs to warm up a bit before getting the whitebalance, it's got a fixed focus and fov, etc) So you might want 2 or 5 pi+cam to...

Likely coder is a LAMP stack and all you have to do is put your code in the correct folder.
If it's not using Apache / Lighttpd / etc then you can just use another port

root
add

Code: Select all

printenv >> /home/pi/rcenv.txt
to see what environment your script is running under.

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/id >> /home/pi/rcenv.txt
would answer your question.

Re: Pi Store does not work

I'm guessing the OP is just asking how to install software offline.

you can do this:
http://docs.xubuntu.org/1304/offline-packages.html
After you download and install apt-offline;
dpkg -i apt-offline_1.2_all.deb

But it's better to just setup network sharing one way or another.

Re: Raspberry Pi B+ RaspMBC random reboots

I have tried many things... 1) rpi crashes when I play any 1080p. from any freshly installed OS; raspbmc, openelec, raspbian, Arch, etc. nothing on usb. the sdcards passed a corruption test. If that's true then you might still have a power issue like a crappy usb cable or dirty mains power, to rule...

Use ssh keys for single sign on.
and another option is openvpn then you can use other local service/ports without extra work.

Re: Too little RAM?

Should be fine. I find cpu to be more limiting than the ram. Anything that uses that much is just doing it wrong and it's not hard to find or make a lightweight alternative.... think about it 512 MB is a lot. Some tools (gcc, jre) use a lot of ram as a simple speed boost but swap will let you use the...

The idea is to have every file on 2 of x nodes so one node can go down and the the sysrem will auto replicate, providing redundancy, optimal space usage, and auto scaling.
