Re: codeblocks/geany setup

Geany - something like this:

Invoke with geany pispi.c &

In the resulting Geany window (mine is v.122) - select [Build] from the top line. Then select [Set Build Commands] from the drop-down menu. Modify the top line [Compile] as needed.

Re: Changing MAC address

so port forwarding would be straight forward. I didn't say that! I think you are confusing MAC addresses and IP addresses. Port forwarding works with IP addresses (and ports which represent services.) For port forwarding to work reliably you need the target system to have a known IP address on its ...

Re: I'm a noob

Do you have a single, simple example which you cannot get to work? What have you tried? How does it fail? Do you have a tutorial you are trying to follow? You will need to be specific - referring to 'the video' or 'code box thingy' does not help anyone else to help you. Can you do a simple 'teleport...

Re: Pi boots only Raspbmc on cheap monitor

If you have used NOOBS to install the 2 systems (guessing, because you omitted this detail), you can force the Recovery console to be displayed when you reboot: https://github.com/raspberrypi/noobs/blob/master/README.md#how-to-force-recovery-mode-being-entered-on-boot-overrides-gpio-or-keyboard-input

Re: Rapbian setup help

Frankly, it looks to me as though you've got confused between the installation instructions for NOOBS and for a 'raw' installation of Raspbian from a .img file. The two are different and cannot be interchanged. The list of files you've printed for comparison is for NOOBS. But if I understand correct...

Hi DeeJay, Can I be really thick and ask what do I save this as? What type of script is it? I've been playing with C and Python but I've had a Raspberry Pi for a few weeks and have never used Linux before. Many thanks, Bret It's an interesting difference between linux and that other desktop OS that...

You don't have to use nano if you are not familiar with it. Any text editor will suffice. If you want to persist with nano - The clue is in the two lines of reminders at the bottom of the editor screen, starting ^G Get Help and ^X Exit... When your file is finished and correct, press Ctrl/X (that is...

Re: Live CD-style amnesiac Raspbian

That's not quite what I'm after. To refresh to a clean state, the SD would have to be formatted, the NOOBS files copied using another device and run, then the OS reinstalled again right? I want the system to reset automatically on each shutdown/boot (but retain the preinstalled packages). Disclaime...

Re: Assembly Language

Assuming you are running Raspbian as the Operating System on your RPi, I don't think you need to download anything, it is ready to use.

There is a short beginners tutorial here - http://thinkingeek.com/2013/01/09/arm-a ... chapter-1/

Re: Live CD-style amnesiac Raspbian

Isn't that pretty much what NOOBS allows you to do? You don't have to boot into a standard version of Raspbian - you could tailor it first with the packages you want installed by default. http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/noobs.md https://github.com/raspberrypi/noobs/blob/master/...
