Re: HTML help

The way your html is written, the server will look for the image in the same directory as the .html file. This is not the only way of including images. Any html tutorial will show other possibilities, such as this one. http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_images.asp You might want to check whether the...

Re: I cant setup my raspberry pi!

It has been reported a number of times that using the card reader/writer built in to some laptops is unsuccessful. I have always used an external usb SD card reader/writer without problems. Note too that some early card readers were not compatible with the later SDHC standard, which I think applies ...

Re: Running python script

Then made it executable [sudo chmod tempstat.py]. Not sure if this is a typo in what you did or in your message, but I think you might need chmod +x tempstat.py ?? (I think the sudo is superfluous if it is your own file, but not harmful) I get pi@raspberrypi ~ $ ./tempstat.py -bash: ./tempstat.py: ...

Re: 1-Wire Weather Station

If I have understood correctly, the connection to the Pi is a 'bus' which can be extended by adding further sensors in parallel. So you use the same GPIO pin.

Re: Raspberry Pi on PC

Determining the IP address of your Pi. There are many forum threads on this topic, so this is a terse summary. Roughly in order from easy to not-so-easy. 1. [only if you also have a screen attached to the Pi] watch the screen as it boots - the assigned IP address is reported as it boots up 2. access...

Re: ssh over university's wireless network

I've heard it's possible that wifi ssh connections could be blocked through the my school's network or some other sort of firewall problem, but I don't know how to test this theory. Can anyone provide any suggestions on how to proceed with this? Simple. Ask your University IT service helpdesk or ne...

Re: Raspberry Pi on PC

The software aspect is dealt with here - http://elinux.org/RPi_Remote_Access You will need some form of ethernet connection between the laptop and Pi - either a direct cable or a connection from each to a shared network. The latter is easier because typically a home network will assign IP addresses ...

In addition - Do you know that the cable you are using is OK? Do you know that the HDMI input you are using on the TV is OK? [To check both, can ...

Re: unable to save nano files when ssh'ing

I don't have any experience with a Nexus, so I can't try to replicate this, but I suggest that there might be a conflict between your ssh app and Ctrl-X. [That is, I don't think it is nano, or file permissions, or your router.] More likely that Ctrl-X is being 'seen' and acted on by the nexus and no...

Re: LibreOffice Impress still slow?

Several thoughts - perhaps you will find something useful among them... 1. maybe a Pi is cheap enough to 'try it and see?' [If it doesn't work out maybe it could be donated to a local school, or eBayed.] 2. perhaps if you posted a link to a sample presentation - a PowerPoint or the OpenDoc equivalen...

Re: Wireless to ethernet network connection?

The answer is 'yes.'

Which part of the setup are you having trouble with? To make focussed advice possible, what operating systems are you using on the Pi and the laptop, and what do you hope to acheive using the network connection?

As with any server, no matter what the hardware or host operating system, the general outline is - 1. change the passwords for any accounts on the server from the defaults set by the distribution 2. acquire (purchase/lease) a domain name 3. get the DNS entry for that domain name associated with the ...

Thank you rurwin. Getting clearer...

In addition, what about 'pre-boot' stuff held on the fat-formatted /boot partition of the boot medium - is that maintained/updated by the 'apt-get [dist-]upgrade' process?
