I'm not sure there's a point in using the pi to make a tablet when so many companies are selling tablets for nearly nothing since there's such a glut. Do something with the RPi that isn't being done by everyone else.

[ I tried to printf(millis()/1000) to check my theory, but apparently you can't print ints or longs. Can someone check this, So you want people to teach you how to program in C a couple of questions at a time? Re: using wifi and Ethernet at the same time for network cam

Is this same subnet the reason why both wifi and ethernet cannot be used at the same time ? I bet there are a lot of ways to do this but if you just plug two interfaces in, that is going to create the question of which to use when. Right now, if I understand you, only the pi can see the network, th...

Hi KLL! I must be failing to do something both necessary and obvious... But the obvious remains elusive....ChetR Are you trying to do all this headless on the RPi? All I can say is that if you can avoid that, don't do that. Even if you can ping the pi, you might later find out that it didn't boot t...

Re: Transfer code written on Windows to Pi using SD card

I don't have one at the moment, but I can buy one if needed if using the memory on this huge sd card as a transfer method is out of the question. Don't you only have one sdcard reader on the RPi that you are already booting from? So isn't it going to be hard to remove that while booted from it to s...

Re: blink using geany and GPIO

Of course, the first one is simpler to grasp and easier to learn. Once you really "get into" the programming, you begin to realize that the "comfort commands" have a lot of overhead, you begin to feel the need for speed and you end up using the more cryptic looking, but faster version. I think you'...

How should I configure the UK PI to share its Internet connection with my French PI The only idea I can come up with is to implements a process that opens a TCP socket and copies packets to and from the local 192,168.1.x on the UK pi !!! This seems like a kludge. If you want to really be in the UK ...

I think most of the standardization happened some years later with OBD II. What exactly the means for your interface probably should be looked at carefully.

Basically, any time the application is executed, no matter where it's executed from, I want it to update /dev/fb0. Is this possible? If you build your display output as an image and then have your display device, I guess that's the RPi in this case, loop and display on the framebuffer each second o...

How to make the Raspberry PI 2 automatic photo frame? So that when you turn on your browser and began to go full screen slideshow of photos on a flash drive? Without user intervention. I would store the images in the /tmp directory so they aren't having to write to the flash drive all the time. The...

you might touch on something refering to memory shortage It seems like the sort of behaviour. I don't have the RPi2 but what I read seems to say it can't run the old OS directly. If that's true, then you couldn't just swap the card and test without any effort. Pity. > But the memory peak actually o...

I don't know if there are hardware or software issues with that dongle, but if you are using the wpa_supplicant, you can set it up to run in a terminal and constantly show what is going on. Basically, if you are having connection problems, it will alert you by going nuts. It's possible, for example,...

Re: FTP from Pi to PC without internet?

I have a script running on the Pi 2 that takes an image, opens ftpserver and puts image on PC, deletes image from Pi, and the cycle repeats at a determined interval. There are many ways to do this, but, I suppose, there are fewer ways if a Windows machine is involved. At least fewer ways that are f...

I was just over there at the mcmelectronics site and they now say that the backorder is until April 17. If they are just not stocking the item, then stop pretending. They've said (at least) that they'd have these in by Nov 21, by Dec 7 and now Apr 17. It's just crazy!
