Re: Set the BCM2835_wdt to check if python script is running.

basically you just need to start writing to device file '/dev/watchdog' and continue writing within less than 15s (watchdog timeout is 15s). No configuration, no additional package needed.

that's what I do

So, if I replace that USB-ethernet adapter I now get a different interface name? For my same connection to my same network? Thus breaking all my configurations? correct :-) unless you configure it this way (description is for wlan interfaces. You can do basically the same with eth interfaces): [HOW...

Looks like I have to waste two days on it....ah well. I have been learning different ways to do the same simple thing, over and over, every year or so since 1980. Why stop now?! what do you expect the RPi? A ready to use product running out of the box? Why don't you buy a commercial product instead...

Re: Spoof MAC Address of Edimax WiFi Dongle [SOLVED]

though the new MAC is showing up for my access point, I can no longer connect to it. correct. Do you use Android to connect to your AP? You must relearn (forget+enter same passphrase) authentication data after a MAC change. Even if the passphrase did not change. Android somehow gets confused if the...

Re: Spoof MAC Address of Edimax WiFi Dongle [SOLVED]

I had to solve the same problem a few months ago with some of my amd64 based APs (APUs from pc-engines). After reading your question I tried the solution on my RPi APs - and it simply worked. Though there is no initramfs on the RPi. The mechanism to map the MACs seems to be little different here. I ...

Re: Raspbian stretch, bluetooth speaker is not seen when pacmd list-sinks is executed

works fine here too. I dont't use the pre-build raspbian/stretch image though. But my repository is based on raspbian/stretch. Bluetooth works here with either pulseaudio or bluealsa (but of course not with both at the same time). It appears for RPi bluealsa is currently the preferred method: apt in...

no worries. The driver doesn't support that function. who cares? to spoof the MAC addresses on my RPi3 (dual WLAN AP) for both the internal and external WLAN adapter I create the following 2 files: /etc/systemd/network/25-wlan0.link: [Match] MACAddress=60:e3:27:12:34:85 [Link] Name=wlan0 MACAddress=...

The OP appears not to desire any form of login - hence my request for further info.
my solution just provides an instant root shell prompt at the serial console after reboot.

I.e. no user intervention at all is required for this to happen.

I hope that fully serves the OPs purposes :-)

Re: Is this the correct way to install the watchdog package?

I don't know how to change this interval in the meantime I experimented a little how to configure the watchdog timeout (on raspbian/stretch 4.9.59+) you can configure the timeout on the kernel cmdline like this (example for 10s timeout): /boot/cmdline.txt: ... bcm2835_wdt.heartbeat=10 be aware that...

for current raspbian/stretch it's sufficient to create a file with this content: /etc/systemd/system/serial-getty@.service: [Unit] Description=Serial Getty on %I Documentation=man:agetty(8) man:systemd-getty-generator(8) Documentation=http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/serial-console.html BindsTo=dev-...
