Re: Method in ArrayList?

Java is very versatile object oriented language that can do many things and falls in very similar category as Python.

So, answer is: yes.

All you have to do now is to learn it. Internet is full of resources, examples and sites where you can even learn it online, do online courses and such.

Re: Update for Rpi Zero W?

The arbitrary and kept to price of $35 for the higher end models was what got us in to the market leading position we are in now....and we did indeed obsess over keeping prices to a specific set of levels. It has proven to be a winning strategy. Although I would say that Zero pricing is a little di...

Re: Servo control using hardware pwm

Just had a quick look - it should provide similar quality of servo pulses to servoblaster (which, it seems, is the one that pioneered it): Credits The PWM and servo pulses are timed using the DMA and PWM peripherals. This use was inspired by Richard Hirst's servoblaster kernel module. See https://gi...

Re: Pi4 as Desktop computer

If you can, could you try that with a 64b kernel? I'd be interested to see if the same thing happens again. As long as there's enough swap, it shouldn't. Was well worth trying. I've increased it to 2GB (it's in a file on SSD so it should be reasonable performance wise) and... Well - something did c...

Re: Servo control using hardware pwm

I've successfully used servoblaster to drive up to 12 servos. All stable and not jittering.

Code: Select all

def moveServo(servoid, position):
    with open("/dev/servoblaster", 'w') as f:
        f.write(str(servoid) + "=" + str(position) + "\n")

The Pi ran up to 74 deg C a few times but mostly sat around 69-70 C. NOTE ! The fan is still on the 3.3V 'slow' setting. I have not yet tried it with the 5V high speed setting, and I suspect it might run cooler. If I was to edit a bigger video and noticed the temp closer to 77 or higher, I would tr...

Currently I am missing FreeCAD and Eclipse the most - rest of it works quite well. Eclipse is a monumental resource pig, even on high end PC! LOL - I think that killed it at the end. But, that's only if you pick Eclipse with everything in it. If you go with only Eclipse for Java developers (not JEE...

Re: Good reasons to buy the latest Rpi 4 with 4G RAM?

So funny when people say 4GB is too small. When I started out 32KB was a lot. I did fairly hardcore C development on 386 PC's with 4MB RAM. C code hasn't changed, but what has changed is the ability of the people writing the development systems to write decent memory efficient code. I didn't say 4G...

Note that unless you go tab-happy in a browser, it is very likely that a Pi4B2 will be sufficient for typical "PC desktop" uses. The Pi4B4 is more aimed at very heavy programming and development work. I wouldn't that call heavy :roll: Heavier? Heavy-ish? Nah, sorry... Just lightweight, 'enthusiast ...

Maybe you need (bigger?) delay. I've just checked - I have:

Code: Select all

 rootdelay=5

Yeah - it seems to be OK. I've, unfortunately, got tangled in different version (python vs airflow vs my example stuff) and didn't get scheduler to run properly, but so far all seems just fine. I'll give it a go sometime later... But, as I said, I see absolutely no reason why it wouldn't run. Also, ...

No it wouldn't. People would still buy it at $75 or $85 or whatever price would be possible. Because SHINY. At 8GB the RAM chip is the biggest expense on the board (TBH, even at lower levels its the expensive part) Bu of course! Most of the stuff is bought because it is SHINY and I don't see anythi...
