Re: [HOWTO] Decoding pager transmissions with a Pi and rtl-s

I still don't understand. My setup has nothing to do with retransmission, so it'll be useless for you. May I suggest you join the gnu-radio/rtl-sdr mailing lists and post your suggestions there.

Re: [HOWTO] Decoding pager transmissions with a Pi and rtl-s

How on earth you can 'save lives' with receiving pager messages I don't know. A standard pager uses way less power and is way more hardy than a Pi or laptop. Plus the emergency services will *already* have receiving equipment. So I have no idea what you are on about. But anyway, here's a cheap and s...

Re: [HOWTO] Decoding pager transmissions with a Pi and rtl-s

I just had to reimage my RPi again after the dreaded filesystem corruption and came here to grab my script and just noticed all the replies, sorry it's taken me a while: I used the default Raspbian image for mine and that is what my script is based around, although it should work on any distro, it's...

Running Photoshop 4.0 on the Pi

Voila: http://www.b3tards.com/u/5694c503d24738c2185e/photoshop.jpg I used BasiliskII from the RetroPie script along with instructions from here: http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/basiliskii_linux_setup#installing_from_disk_images It's actually more usable than I thought. I also managed to get BBC ...

Re: Powering Pi with LM7805 (solved)

I've used a cheap UBEC along with an 18V battery from a cordless drill, worked for about 12-14hrs as an wireless AP.

Re: RetroPie Setup - Auto-installer/updater for RetroArch ga

I've finally managed to get BasiliskII to start installing system 7, there's a bit missing from the instructions about decompressing the floppy images with stuff-it: http://pimac.tumblr.com/post/50591862948/installing-the-basiliskii-68k-macintosh-emulator-on-the If you read here, it says to decompre...

Re: [HOWTO] Decoding pager transmissions with a Pi and rtl-s

Looks to me like some of the pulseaudio libs are missing. Because I've been using my Pi for RetroArch I probably had them already installed and missed them off the dependencies. For now you can try: sudo apt-get install libpulse-dev I'll have a look to see if there isn't a compile switch to turn off...

[HOWTO] Decoding pager transmissions with a Pi and rtl-sdr

Preamble Please note, if you are based in the UK please read and understand Section 48 of the UK Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/36/section/48 After purchasing an USB RTL2832 based dongle for use with my RPi to receive ADS-B messages from aircraft I was annoye...

Re: RetroPie Setup - Auto-installer/updater for RetroArch ga

I've been messing around with this for a bit and thought I'd share some of my findings. My setup is: RPi Model b PS2 USB joypad Composite video/analog audio First off, I found that most of the emulators would go to a black screen from EmulationStation unless I changed 'runcommand 1' to 'runcommand 2...

Re: [Tutorial] Using the Raspberry Pi as a WiFi hostspot

Here's the thing, hostapd nor the PI ever sees anything coming from my laptop, but it otherwise finds other devices, so I only have this in my laptops dmesg: [302172.509572] wlan0: direct probe to 00:17:3f:b1:43:36 (try 1/3) [302172.708169] wlan0: direct probe to 00:17:3f:b1:43:36 (try 2/3) [302172....

Re: [Tutorial] Using the Raspberry Pi as a WiFi hostspot

I'm using a zd1211rw based dongle along with hostapd and dnsmasq, which seems to work OK for some devices and not with others. For example my Nintendo DS and N900 both connect fine, but my laptop doesn't want to connect. I'm fairly sure it's a problem with the wireless drivers.

Re: [Tutorial] Using the Raspberry Pi as a WiFi hostspot

pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo service udhcpd status Usage: /etc/init.d/udhcpd {start|stop|restart|force-reload} It looks to me udhcpd isn't running, hence why no IP addresses are being given out. Try running udhcpd from the command line to make sure the configuration file is correct. EDIT: Or just use st...

Re: GNURadio on Raspberry Pi

Mini-update: It looks like modes_rx consumes too much CPU for it to work, which is a shame, although it is possible to run rtl_tcp on the Pi and send the data via network cable to another PC running modes_rx. I've tried using a wireless connection but it doesn't really have enough bandwidth. I'm rec...

Re: GNURadio on Raspberry Pi

I managed to get gnuradio to compile after looking at a few guides. I used distcc to try and speed up the process, which as a bit of a pig to setup. apt-get install python-cheetah libboost-all-dev python-lxml python-wxgtk2.8 python-numpy python-lxml libfftw3-dev libsdl1.2-dev python-scipy python-mat...

Receiving Pager messages on a RPi

I've been messing around with a £12 USB DVB-T dongle as they can be turned into a cheap SDR and it's been a lot of fun. First I compiled rtl_sdr and made sure it was working, which had the side benefit of turning my Pi into an FM receiver :-) I then compiled multimonNG to work as a decoder, then glu...

Re: Simple Ham Radio FM receiver with rtl-sdr

Another update, I've managed to get FM receiving working with rtl-sdr. The big stopping block was using play from SoX to playback the audio, which was causing stuttering. I'm now using aplay and it's working a lot better. I'm using the source from here as it has more options to control the samplerat...

Re: Simple Ham Radio FM receiver with rtl-sdr

Just to add that I've had some success with a PROlectrix DV107669 plugged into my Pi. At the moment I've only got rtl-sdr compiled as per the instructions above. To test it I've been using multimode.py on a laptop connected to it via ethernet cable. I did try using a zd1211 wireless card but it caus...

I managed to get hostapd working! (sort-of)

I got my Pi yesterday and first impressions were very good. My initial use for it was to put into my JAMMA cab to run MAME on a 15KHz monitor, but indications are that this is unlikely to happen. So to get myself acquainted with the Pi I grabbed my zd1211 dongle and had a play around. I've managed t...
