Re: restoring MySQL database

The directory probably belongs to another user than "pi" (or whatever your current user in the shell is). You can put "sudo" in front of commands to run them as "root". sudo ls -al /var/lib/mysql Should give you a list of files and show you which user/group they belong to. If you use "sudo" to copy ...

Re: avi playback using Raspbian?

2 & 3 : Consider getting a second SD-card and install Raspbmc. (XBMC for RasPI) or OpenElec, that will most likely give you the best movie and music experience.
(but omxplayer should work very well also, but it will depend on codec's used.)

Re: Copying Files from a Dropbox folder with Wildcards

Make a bash script that calls dropbox_uploader for each file in the directory.

Learn how here:

If you have subdirectories it might get more complicated.

Re: Difficulty of porting a game

You could take a look at Xye (http://xye.sourceforge.net/) which I believe is an open source implementation of the same game. If you can read the code ( and if its well documented ) it might give you a decent idea on how big the job might be to do in python.

Re: Run Executable compiled in Ubuntu

The only way I know to do that is to write the image to a SD-card, boot it on a real Pi, do an apt-get update+upgrade, + install the missing libs. And then read the SD-card back again as an new image and mount that one instead.

The Raspberry itself can be ordered by many webshops in norway, but no one has picked up on the camera yet as far as I can see.

Re: What distro would you recommend for an in-car media/game

You should search the forum and find the thread which has some pre-built XBMC packages for Raspbian. I dont know how well such a package works compared with OpenElec or Rasbmc but you will keep all the benefits of having a full blown distro like Raspbian.

I found this post which is somewhat related. You could try that "apt-get" command in first reply to see if that fixes it.

But yes, It might be that you also need to install more on your RasPi-rootfs.

Maybe you should mention which operating system you have this problem on, exactly which file you are talking about and which "unzip" program you are using. (and if you have tried other programs).

Re: setup of an IR remote for MPD ?

Personally I would have used Flirc as a IR-receiver in combination with a mpc ( Music player client) that understand keyboard shortcuts. (nmpc maybe)

Flirc can be programmed to work with (almost) any remote control and send the keyboard press you choose.

I just tested that ram increased that increases your model B rev 2 ram from 256 mb ram to 512 wich you otherwise need to do manually. So you fix is supposed to update the firmware for people which have the problem that they are only seeing 256Mb of RAM when they really have 512Mb ?? I think you cou...

Re: Run Executable compiled in Ubuntu

From the script on gitourios you said you used I can see that a lot of xcb libraries are installed in step 1. But I think you have to add something to the ./configure line in step 4. to get it to actually build with xcb support, try "./configure --help" or google for it. And you will have to have X ...

I really thought 10GB free space was going to be enough for this build. But it seems I have to make a new disk for my virtual machine.

How much space does the standard build need ? I think I only added omxplayer my self.

I've been testing different methods (bsquask, pre-built packages from twolife.be) with variable results.

Which Qt5 release are you using, 5.0.0 or newer ?

Re: Run Executable compiled in Ubuntu

Qt5 has different rendering platforms, and probably the standard for your compiled version is "eglfs" (EGL 2.0), which is fullscreen EGL accelerated mobile application style. if you run your program with the option "-platform bullshot" it should list out all the supported rendering platforms. Choosi...

Re: QT4 - C++ - QProcess and a "\" in a string

First you should understand that the shell only needs those "\" because there are spaces in your directory names. ( something I try to avoid at all costs on my own systems ) In the shell those "\" can be avoided by using " around the whole filename so: sha1sum "/media/data/images/wheezy-hf/wheezy ha...

Re: compiling multiple files at once?

(disclaimer: I'm not a java expert) If its java then you might in theory be able to just run the already compiled binary classes. ( that is one of the arguments for Java after all, compile once, run everywhere ) Most java projects comes with some build-file that you can use with a build system like ...

"could not get it to work" is not very helpful as a problem description, where did it fail, what did you try ?

The standard window manager on raspbian, which I believe is OpenBox is on the list of windowmanagers that supports the protocol used by wmctrl.

Do other commands like "wmcrtl -l" or "wmctlr -m" work ?
