Re: Apache web server on pi

I am also able to access motion eye camera stream from outside the network. Tell us how the portforwarding is set up now.. You can not forward external port 80 to two different devices in your router, so the easiest is to either move Apache or the camera to another internal ( and external ) port. (...

Re: Network does not come up when restarting ...

You have been reading a lot of old guides for older versions of Raspbian it seems. Leave "/etc/network/interfaces" be and focus on guides that mention "/etc/dhcpcd.conf". I think this is a hole in the RPF documentation, but it seem like they dont want to encourage people exposing the Pi on the inter...

Re: Raspbian Lite: how to switch apps without closing them?

Why do you want to have it in the foreground ? If its a server its very unlikely that you can interact with it. If you want to see what it logs then look at the logfile. You can follow a logfile "live" with "tail -f" command.

- try netcat to the actuall IP of the Pi and not localhost.
- "netstat -lp" should list all ports open for listening and which process that has opened them.

Re: Pi as VPN gateway/router for a subnet

Setting a static IP ( for example 192.168.32.1 ) on eth1 is the first step. (If all the other devices on that sub-net also can be set to static IP then you dont really need DHCP. ) All the guides I have seen related to setting up the Pi as a router or wifi AP uses "dnsmasq" so I think you will find ...

Re: Using the ethernet port to accept traffic

Good point... I want to connect to my router with wifi but connect my Acurite Access to the ethernet port. I am going to try and install a couple of programs that will grab the feed from the access and reuse them. Hopefully this explains more. It does, but what is an "Acurite Access" ? and does it ...

to allow the ethernet port to feed another device?
There are many ways of configuring the network interfaces on a Pi, but you have to describe what you want, better than that, if you want some useful help.

I am trying to use a rpi3 to accept video from a pc and display it to a tv.
When you say "video" are you talking about video-files or the output from the graphicscard on the PC ?

Re: sms module for raspberry pi

- You dont have to enable internet connection for SMS to work.
- You might not be able to to use internet and SMS at the same time. ( you will find 15+ threads on that subject on this forum, it depends on the modem, which drivers it uses etc. etc.. )

Re: RC522 Module Can't Select Multiple Tags

A couple of points.. - All the cards are passive cards, they are powered by the antenna on the RC522, there is definitely a limit to how many cards it can power at the same time. I dont know what that limit should/could be for your reader. - After you are done with one card, there should be a "halt"...

Re: sms module for raspberry pi

I dont know if there really are something like a "SMS module" but you have gsm/3g/4g modems that can receive and send SMSs. Yes you can use a SIM800 module. There are many of these modules in different packaging versions. ( one example: https://www.waveshare.com/sim800c-gsm-gprs-hat.htm ) And the do...

Re: Rasperry Pi Emulator

Some thoughts..

- To have USB you need a really small USB hub to fit in the box..
- Forget about the 9V battery.. focus on the external power. ( use a mobile powerback if mobility is needed ) no need to have it on battery really when you still have to have a TV/Monitor which needs proper power.

Re: Can I get a joystick to work on my pi without Retropi?

Plug the device in after the Pi has booted, and then run the "dmesg" command and look at the last lines outputted.
It should indicate if the device has been detected as a keyboard or as a joystick.
You can also use the "evtest" program to test what events you get from the device.
