Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

Once the stock situation settles down it should be around $7Cdn Personally, I am waiting for one of the US supplies to get them in at $5 so I can get 10 :) Microcenter is getting a freshly baked batch of 1100 in on the 18th. Supposedly it's still in-store only & one per customer/household but last ...

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

For example, as a prerequisite to turn on a GPIO pin, you will now have to buy/have available soldering equipment and learn how to use it. That's quite a steep hill for someone new. You say this as if it's a bad thing. Replace "turn on a GPIO pin" with "making a game"; and "soldering equipment" wit...

Re: Pi Zero Rip Offs

The US authorized seller Micro Center only sells the Zero over the counter, you must be at their store in Ohio to get a Zero! that was untrue, every store had stock, i saw for myself the stock in the brooklyn store and had reports from most other stores. and the stores are all over the country they...

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

My information is 2nd hand. My friend said she was there first thing and word was "sold out". Strange considering the one per household policy. In any case as mentioned if the price drops to $10 shipped in next few months I will consider myself lucky. It is an amazing accomplishment for something l...

It's the smell of fresh solder that's making you giddy :) Says the typing fox downing a pint, who likes thoroughly dried-out "pastries", or have I gone completely off the deep end and am imagining that's what's happening? Well, no matter, as James Brown sang so sagely, "I feel good! Wuh!" ;) Sniffi...

Rhetorical question: Why do all other "what I would like to see" threads get clamped, and this one is having petrol poured on it from the top down? Because work is sometimes allowed to be fun! :D (And because tomorrow) **Gets out fuel can** **Pours petrol** **Stands back** **Admires flames whilst w...

Probably the easiest way to sniff network traffic using a raspi is to bung it on one of these https://greatscottgadgets.com/throwingstar/

I ran Scumblr for almost a year and it works well (don't run it on a Pi B+ it's painful) but it's been that long since I installed it so i'm not sure I can remember all the convolutions I had to go thru to get it working so i'll have to see if I can find my notes but in the mean time you did enter t...

Re: Where is the OS installed?

the raspberry pi uses an micro sd card to boot and for the operating system and your files. you can use a usb drive for the operating system and your files but you'll still need an sd card for the boot files (the loader & kernel)

"ps -ef" is a correct way to list all processes. ps -ef and ps aux are functionally the same except that ps aux gives you greater detail (different). historically they came from two different systems POSIX vs BSD (I often forgot what OS I was on and used the wrong form on the wrong one but we're ta...
