It is only 2.4GHz WiFI. You can not fix it.

Re: vlc h264 streaming not working with Jessie

I tested the rpi-update from wheezy. And streaming works! And I did not even add :demux=h264.
So it is vlc that has changed something which breaks the streaming.

So how do I downgrade vlc in Jessie?
Or is there any other program, which can stream h264 from v4l2?

Re: Why would it not keep a static IP?

I just have to remark that not all routers are capable of allocating IPs based on MACs.
Mine for example can not do it (Siemens Speedstream).

Re: Where do I download wheezy?

Come on! I only start camera streaming. I never have any reason to touch it after it starts. If it fails, I need to poweroff the system anyway. You seriously recommend to create systemd startup scripts instead of putting this one line to rc.local?: /usr/bin/cvlc -d v4l2:///dev/video0:chroma="H264":w...

Heater,

I do not think it is obsolete:

And it sure is simpler that building a real startup script.

thanks corpusm, but your example did not work for me.
I can get raspivid method to work but it is as unreliable than by running directly from v4l2

Re: Where do I download wheezy?

Jednorozec, I hear a lot of criticism of systemd. I have not looked into it enough to know how much of that is warranted. I however my experience with it on the desktop and the Pi has been as follows. In general use one does not even know it's there. Seems to et everything working fine just like Sy...

Re: Where do I download wheezy?

shuckle, My reason to still use wheezy is that streaming camera works easier than in jessie. It would be interesting to here what problems you have had with that on Jessie. It's next on my list of things to do. You can see the issue here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1422...

Yes, in theory. Depending on details you may have issues with CPU power, but yes, basically it is possible to use 2 USB cameras.

What is also interesting is that when the streaming starts, it seems to work reliably. I have run it for several days. The only problem is how to get it started always.

Maybe it is vlc, no idea.

ok, I got this working also with jessie by adding :demux=h264. But indeed it does not work always. And as it never failed with the wheeze and now it seems to be working about 1 time when tried 10 times....It would be really nice to understand what causes the failure and how it could be changed to wo...

Re: Multiple cameras on a single raspberry pi

I am streaming both the raspberry camera and also USB camera.
But indeed the ethernet is bottle neck and I have set both to 5 fps only.
I use motion to stream the USB cam and it uses the CPU heavily. Rapberry camera is mainly hardware thing and only uses the network.

Re: RasPiO Duino on Special This week

Tried to read those docs... I understand that it is possible to upload arduino sketches into this from Raspi. And then it works like normal Arduino. But is it possible to discuss (change data) with Raspi and RasPiO? Connecting normal Arduino to Raspi is pretty trivial using USB, so it is possible to...

double check that you have this:

Why b) want it to display anything ?

I am starting several omxplayers from rc.local and they do display videos. How should that then be done if not from rc.local?

just put the script into /etc/rc.local, which is run by root during the boot.
