Re: Pi Zero Availability

Hal (and everybody else) - don't order from RS or Farnell or affiliates: the main stockists in the US are Adafruit and Microcenter (which may be what's causing some of the confusion). The margins we wanted partners to stick to are very low, and our usual distributors didn't fancy it (although other ...

Re: Pi Zero Availability

As I have said before, I think the Zero will always be made is low quantities, simply because there is little or no profit to be made on them. No profit = No Foundation. Not actually the case (although the profit we make is very small) - we're making them as fast as we can. Demand has been...well, ...

@jjex - the case forms the heatsink. (That's why it has all those fins.) Read more: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/astro-pi-flight-case/

Not to my knowledge, no. (And I work here.) Heatsinks are pretty, but that's broadly the only purpose they serve.

It should be tucked inside (the little plastic bubble on the front of the first run would have taken too long to build for the emergency second run we made) - give the magazine a shake!

Folks: jjex22's answer was the right one. For everybody else, can we please remember that ESPECIALLY at this time of year, new users are coming to these forums. They may not have your brain-surgeon-level of knowledge. Please treat them as you'd like to have been treated yourselves when you were just...

Re: catapult project ( raspberry pi ) - physics - need help

It's actually pretty accurate in terms of barometric sensing; we did a lot of testing by embedding one in a foam football and dropping it off the roof of Pi Towers (seriously). I believe Marc has the resulting graphs somewhere!

Re: Is it crazy to start a business enabled by raspberry PI

There are hundreds of businesses using the Pi as their core technology: although we're an educational not-for-profit, we make and sell Raspberry Pis and add-ons into a lot of embedded business, and the device and add-ons are designed to be used in those environments. Selling Raspberry Pis is how we ...

Have you checked out our free learning resources? https://www.raspberrypi.org/resources/ Lots and lots of age-appropriate stuff in there. We also recommend Carrie Anne's book for kids of this sort of age: the Foundation edition is only £4. http://swag.raspberrypi.org/collections/useful/products/adve...

A reminder

Hi folks - a quick reminder, in the run-up to Christmas. A lot of newcomers to these forums, especially at this time of year, are kids, or people who don't have much or any experience with devices like Raspberry Pi. It'd be terrific if old hands could make the effort to remember that things which mi...

Re: upgrading my PC

OP: the Raspberry Pi *is* a computer. It's not an add-on or upgrade or a RAM package for your existing computer. So unfortunately what you're asking for isn't possible. Lots of other stuff is, though: we'd recommend taking a look through the blog archive for some project ideas, or through back issue...

Re: Will Pi zero be available again before Christmas?

I think it's because of the Italian postage system. I've read lots of complaints about items going missing. I ordered one from The Pi Hut just after 12.00, when I saw that they were in stock, and I just saw an email saying that it had been shipped. Sadly, that's correct; I spoke to Paul at Pimoroni...

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

I spoke to Paul at Pimoroni about that this morning: there are a few countries where they've had repeated problems with the local post office (deliveries turning up damaged, absurdly late, or just disappearing) and will only offer courier service to as a result. Looks like Italy's one of those.

No, production's not suspended. Please don't spread FUD, OP. (Well done everybody else for spotting it for FUD. We don't like FUD.) Farnell (I'm going to guess they're your "large supplier") aren't making the Raspberry Pi Zero: the Foundation is, and for now Farnell are not stocking it - the only or...
