Re: Crazy colored graphics in desktop raspbian after LCD ins

Reading your other thread - totally a power supply issue. PLEASE try a proper 2.5A supply and a proper cable before starting any more threads.

Re: Sporadic mouse/keyboard connectivity, crazy graphics pi

Every single one is tested before leaving the factory - I would put money on your problem being your power supply. Have you tried a known good 2.5A supply yet?

Re: Raspberry Pi is The 50 Most Influential Gadgets of All T

Eben and I saw the last few things (50-45) on the list and started guessing what would be at the top. We were both wrong: Eben said "The wheel. Or fire." I said "A pointy stick."

Still, the iPhone is nice and all.

Re: Always show color rectangle on corner

The rainbow square is a warning signal: it means your power supply is inadequate. For Pi 3 you need 2.5 amps; for Pi 2, 2 amps. If you don't meet these requirements the rainbow square will display, and you may find your Raspberry Pi crashes under load.

Gerd and Rive - neither of you is behaving very well here. I'm closing this thread. Please reel it in. The next time either of you starts baiting another user (and yes, I know it takes two, but you're both being as bad as each other) it'll mean a short forum ban to cool down - at the very least.

It's still a rolling shutter - at this sensor, a global shutter just doesn't provide the quality that a rolling shutter does.

Re: PiZero IoT HAT (bluetooth+wifi for $9)

It's not a HAT, and we would prefer it if organisations making add-ons without an eeprom did not call their devices HATs - your choice, but we'd definitely look more favourably on an FCC/CE conformant device that didn't misuse the nomenclature.

Re: Why not move to using Discourse for this forum?

FYI, folks, a forum upgrade *is* in the works, and has been since a while before Christmas, but we hit a bit of a stumbling block (massive understatement - it was carnage) with our contractors, and a couple of weeks ago we had to tell them that we wouldn't be continuing with them. The work they'd do...

Lots of people attached to Blackgang Chine - worth contacting @DrLucyRogers. There are sometimes Pi hackathons there. https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/tag/blackgang-chine/

Re: Ditch the locking micro-SD slot and go for a regular one

One of the biggest complaints we received before Pi3 was about the push-push connector. It seems a lot of you (really, an awful lot - you should see my inbox) were accidentally ejecting your cards when handling your Pi, which meant SD card corruption. That's what was behind the change.

Yeah - sorry guys. Just to explain: We had nearly 100 newspapers/websites/broadcast media journalists under embargo. They all had to respect that embargo, and if *we* had broken it we'd have broken all of those relationships. And unfortunately ALL of our website comes under the category of "we", so ...

Re: People mention about Pi Z clones

Yeah - one of the things that went wrong there (and was behind the recent drama) was that the name "Arduino" WASN'T trademarked for a very long time, so there are a bajilion something-duino products out there from before they actually trademarked it.

Re: People mention about Pi Z clones

It is a genuine service. My understanding is that there isn't a minimum order unit size - but there IS a minimum cost, so if you were to order one unit, it'd still cost you tens of thousands of dollars because of the NRE (non-recurring engineering) cost. They build these in their Chinese factory, so...

TBH, the Orange/Roseapple/Banana lot ARE annoying; it's really not cool to have someone ride on your coattails like that. We really do wish other manufacturers all the success in the world, but we also wish they wouldn't rely on the name and brand we've spent years working on to try to get an audien...

Yeah - we're on pretty friendly terms with Massimo, and it seems that what happened was a failure to get the proper legal docs in place at the start. Ours are (and always have been) ABSOLUTELY watertight - one of our trustees is Louis Glass, who works at Olswang, and he'd skin us alive if they weren...

Pi Zero schedules

Hi folks. Update on where we are with getting Zero to you (all good news!) First up, we've been able to get a bit more line space, so we've been able to ramp up building them a little faster than was expected. This means that shipments will be larger, so stores should have more in each batch. (I'm n...
