Re: USB Type C of Pi 4 model B

The USB C socket on a RPi4 is not a USB C port. It has 5 volt power input pins and it has the D+ and D- pins electrically compatible with USB 2. The socket was chosen for its small size and ability to carry higher current for the RPi4 and USB peripherals. Having an otherwise redundant USB port with...

My tracking number is now showing up in the USPS system with updates, but it's not in the US yet.

Have you tried USPS with your LSXXX number?

We are a very small company (RPF(Trading)).
Wonder how long before kids are using it for two player games?
Screens back to back and you have a Battleship game setup.
I prefer a back to back game of Doom.

Is ARC supported?
If you are talking about audio input from HDMI, then no.
Okay, it's not surprising considering the type of use case you would get from this.

Perhaps for recording audio (microphone) or passing it to the other HDMI port, like passthrough 5.1 etc.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

This is great news to know there isn't a hardware limitation in regards to dual sound.

I do see a use case where you have two displays that require independent sound. This would be a dual seat setup for underserved areas. I could see commercial uses too.

Is ARC supported?

Will the 4 support two displays at 1080/75hz?

Is it possible for both HDMI outputs to support independent sound?

I know some users have really no interest in SD card speeds. However, anyone using this as a desktop to me would be interested in SD card speeds. Then I started doing some more digging and 50MB/sec seems very slow when you can get a 120GB SSD with an USB/SATA adapter for $30. I can see where size is...

Hi all, We're aware there has been some challenges around order tracking and delivery over the past week. Up until yesterday this was a manual process for our customer service team, who whilst they are working as fast as they can, they haven't be able to get back to everyone straight away. We do un...

Hello, I am new to the rasberry pi world but have used other boards. I have been looking for a device that has dual hdmi outputs for a while. My use case senario is that I want to send 1 hdmi signal to my 4k hdr tv and the second to my AVR. I do not want to upgrade to a new 4k receiver. I also like...

I ordered on Sunday and I got this odd tracking number: SAxxxxxxx. Today the package shows up in: https://watchmyparcel.com/asendia BUT your need to search by "Shipment Reference". After that it gave me additional details such as an "Identifier" which seems trackable by USPS. It still says sitting i...

Yeah, I would like it a bit more clear where the product is shipping from on their site.

BTW, it's back in stock, board only:

I was dispointed to find out they are not US based. They are not shipping from the US.

The good news is that's it's in stock. 10 days is slow, but August is 4 weeks away for some of the US distributors restock.

The hardware limitations would still be an issue for some, 3D acceleration, sound, # of USB ports etc. Haven't tested any demanding 3D accelerated stuff like games, but graphics wise it is good enough for normal desktop use. Playing video simultaneously on both seats using normal desktop applicatio...

Re: Multi-Seat use of RPi 4

The average user won't be the person setting up dual seat. But is that because it is currently unnecessarily complicated to setup, or is there really no demand for it? I do think multiseat setups offer obvious cost saving advantages for anyone in need for more than one workstation, e.g. schools. I ...

How stable is 2GHz? What are you using for cooling? Is any overvolting used? I'm using over_voltage=4. Hasn't showed any signs of instability so far, left it running cpuburn for about 10 hrs and it was fine, Ran glxgears on it for a bit but don't really have anything to stress the GPU right now. I'...

Also, does anyone know of any cases that support having a fan for the rpi4? This little Pi runs a bit toasty. And one more thing, I've seen little fans that you can tape to the top of the heatsinks on Pi boards. Anyone know where to get those and the heatsinks? Assuming the FLIRC case for Pi4 works...

Re: Multi-Seat use of RPi 4

Multi-seat works in principle, with the exception of audio. Currently that is only supported on one of the micro HDMI ports, not on both. Seems like a nothing-burger. I don't think HDMI ARC works anyhow, so you are limited to one microphone input. This means the second user would already need somet...

Re: 4K decode limitations?

Currently there is no arbitration between attempted uses of the hevc block, so trying to decode a 2nd stream will blow up. My understanding is that there is no reason why two streams can't be multiplexed through the block, but we need to get the software in place to do so. It decodes to memory, and...
