Re: DSP PROGRAMMING ON RASPBERRY PI

If one could get access to a DSP on the Raspi then we've got a great platform for ye-olde-digital-stompbox to get that guitar go to 11 :D That'd be an awesome project! I'd definitely help anyone work on that. Is this being worked on or is it just something that came with the SOC and will lie dorman...

Re: DSP PROGRAMMING ON RASPBERRY PI

Well it does have a DSP, it's just not accessible (yet).

From the wiki:
DSP core: There is a DSP, but there isn't currently a public API (Liz thinks the BC team are keen to make one available at some point)

Re: Project: Android JB 4.1 with Hardware acceleration

One reason for me is that I'm currently very low on money and would love to have an Android development platform. Maybe I could even make some spare change if I make a decent app.

Will this lower RAM usage?

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n ... px=MTI1MTQ

Kernel 3.8 will heavily reduce RAM usage in some specific cases. I'm not quite knowledgeable to tell if this will impact the Pi in any way.

Re: Power Consuption Approximation of Broadcom SOC

The Broadcom also needs a 1.2V powersupply. That however is generated from the 5V using a switch mode DCDC converter. The BCM has multiple +v pins. A 1.8v for itself and the ram that's stepped down using an internal switchmode. 3.3v powers various parts of it as well, like the hdmi. The 3.3v also p...

Re: stall on boot with new SD image

There's been a fix in one of the more recent Linux Kernels for lengthy ext4 resizing. Should eventually get to the Pi and make new installs much better.

Re: Overclocking

Latest firmware now sets: init_emmc_clock=100000000 and sdhci-bcm2708.emmc_clock_freq=100000000 as I believe this helps the sdcard corruption problem when overclocking core_freq. Although this got rid of my ext4 corruption on boot when overclocked and force_turbo=1(been using this firmware and late...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

Shaders using the BSNES XML format should work, and you can find some here: http://gitorious.org/bsnes/xml-shaders Note that some shaders are more performance heavy than others, and at higher resolutions, they can slow down your game. How do you get them to work? I recompiled the latest retroarch a...

I read somewhere that properly written OpenGL 2.1 applications written for programmable gpu's are very easy to port to OpenGL ES 2.0.

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

Speaking of which, the latest commit to the main repo, can people test out the "gl" video driver? We finally got it so the performance is usable, and want to see if it's stable/bug free. set"video_driver = "gl" in retroarch.cfg to enable it. I've been watching the commits, so I've been testing this...

Doom 3

This was discussed before the release of the Raspberry pi when Doom 3 became open source. Old thread: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1451 Basically the conclusion(although debatable) was that with some modifications it could maybe be done. Limiting factors would be the cpu an...

Re: Overclocking

measure_clock has always seemed broken on my pi. I can only measure arm, core, and emmc. everything else returns 0. My v3d was definitely overclocked. It ran at 600MHz but with terrible graphical corruption and eventually crashed. core_freq was at 400, so v3d_freq=600 should've been a correct option...

Re: Overclocking

Yes, without force_turbo (or current_limit_override) over_volt is limited to 6. You can specificy 7 or 8, but you will get 6. Thought I read that. Currently when set to 8 and force_turbo off, "vcgencmd measure_volts core" reports 1.4v. Is it actually 1.35, or is it not snapping down correctly? You ...

Re: Overclocking

It appears the OpenELEC has no terminal, designed to feel like an embedded OS. @Dom: Thought I read somewhere that over_volt is limited to 6, unless force_turbo=1. Am I mistaken? 8 works without force_turbo. And is the firmware supposed to limit the clock to 1200? My pi is stable at 1200 with over_v...

On one of my sd cards, I set overclock to medium using raspi-config. I checked my config.txt and the overclock settings were there. Re: Overclocking

I have these values now; force_turbo=1 arm_freq=900 sdram_freq=500 gpu_freq=350 So having gpu freq at 350 also sets core, h264, isp, v3d to 350? or should I overclock core_freq as well gpu_freq? gpu_freq only sets h264, isp, and v3d, not core. So you want: force_turbo=1 arm_freq=900 sdram_freq=500 ...
