Pretty simple, if you compile on a Raspberry 1B+ with the defaults it will build for the ARMv6.
Chromium recommends you cross-compile for ARM because most ARM devices lack the RAM and power to build Chromium directly. For a 512MB ARMv6 SBC, I agree with this. How do I cross compile for ARMv6?

Re: Raspberry pi 4 - x64 Processor ?

it was the original Hudl that was 2013 iirc, my bad. The original Hudl didn't even get a software update to 4.4 KitKat, let alone Lollipop. The Hudl2 started off as KitKat and was upgraded to Lollipop. The original Hudl had an ARM Cortex-A9, which is a similar processor to that found in the Pi 2. A...

Compile programs for the Raspberry Pi 1 and Zero's ARMv6 SoC

I was wondering how I can compile C++ programs for the original Pi and Pi Zero's ARMv6 SoC. According to https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/HEAD/docs/linux_chromium_arm.md you can compile Chromium for ARM which I'd like to do because the Chromium build on Raspbian is out of date. But h...

Re: Raspberry pi 4 - x64 Processor ?

I linked to one above, it was $18 each for whatever quantity it might have been (1000's). It is the one used in the HUDL2. But you can find them all here with prices https://ark.intel.com I used to use a hudl2 tablet. It ran smoothly when I got it, but when I got a Lenovo Tab 4 8" Plus I stopped us...

How exactly can you download macOS legally without having a Mac? You can't. If you want macOS, buy a Mac.

Hippy,
It is any software which is written for Linux but only for X86 platforms.
I repeat, what exactly? So far nobody has offered an example. I was hoping you might.
I'll give you some examples. Google Chrome, WINE, Dropbox, and Spotify.

Re: Raspberry pi 4 - x64 Processor ?

Keep in mind that a (hypothetical) x86 based Pi wouldn't have to run - and, in fact, would not run - any sort of "state of the art", latest-and-greatest, x86 processor. Nor would it have to run the latest-and-greatest (Yech!) MS operating system. Remember that the Pi phenomenon started with a GPU/C...

Re: Start x is not working can't find answers please help

Maybe try installing a display manager?

Code: Select all

sudo apt install lightdm
You'll also need a desktop environment. Run one of the following commands:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install lxde
sudo apt install lxqt
sudo apt install xfce4
sudo apt install kde-plasma-desktop

A x64 Pi would bump up the price a lot. And by a lot, I mean by over £100. An Intel Core i3 8th Generation can be purchased from £139.99. Re: Raspberry pi 4 - x64 Processor ?

The Pi 3 does not have a x64 processor. x64 is 64-bit x86. The Pi 3 has a 64-bit ARM processor (ARM64) and can run 64-bit ARM OSes but not 64-bit x86 ones. A x64 Pi would bump up the price a lot. And by a lot, I mean by over £100. An Intel Core i3 8th Generation can be purchased from £139.99. https:...

I need armhf because my pi is still the "old" & "outdated" Pi 2 B! Oh okay. I'll see if I can build a Debian armhf image that works on the Pi 2 (as well as the Pi 3) in the upcoming days. I don't own a Pi 2, so I'll test the image on my Pi 3B. Once the image is released, feedback from Pi 2 users wo...

I tried Fedora 28 and 29 - both don't work on my B+
29 didn't reach the gui
28 started a frozen gui
Use one of the spins such as XFCE which use lighter desktop environments.

Re: 64-bit operating system

I have created a 64-bit Debian MATE image for the Pi 3. It supports the Pi 3's built-in WiFi out of the box and is built upon the standard Debian ARM64 base, meaning you can install any package available for ARM64 in the Debian repositories. It has firmware for pretty much everything such as WiFi, U...

The chances of there being a x64 Pi are very minimal. It would increase the price by a large amount. Also, a x64 Pi would not be compatible with OSes such as Raspbian.
