Re: What have we missed?

<t>+1 to the optional battery idea.<br/> <br/> I also wouldn't mind seeing some T-shirt options oddly enough. I wouldn't mind rocking an r-pi t-shirt to help with advertising (it would be especially cool if the shirt had a QR barcode somewhere on it).<br/> <br/> Let us know if you ever get a Google+...

Re: Raspberry pi, computer science tool for the masses?

It would also be nice if you could download a basic image on-line (possibly via torrents). That way you would have the option of quickly changing the OS on the SD card or restoring things to a factory default setting without having to waste space on the SD card for a "Restore Partition"

Re: Fond memories

<t>wow, you're all pretty lucky. At my elementary school we had a Computer lab, but it was a mac only lab that only did "The Oregon Trail". In Jr. High our only Computer option was to do rotation deal where you spent 6 weeks exploring different things. One 6 weeks period was typing. High School brou...

Re: How would you use a Raspberry Pi device?

<r>Another thing the Raspberry would be very usefully for is inventory tracking. At the last place I worked I had to set up an inventory tracking for our IT department. I used a free piece of software called tracmor (<URL url="http://www.tracmor.com/">http://www.tracmor.com/</URL>). I had to lug aro...

Re: What have we missed?

<t>In what benjohnbarnes referenced, it might be nice if the device had a "lower" power option where it could be run straight off USB line power. It would be able to run ethernet, but would need a powered USB hub to run USB devices, and a power brick for "full" power options (which near as I can tel...

Re: What have we missed?

<t>I'm actually pretty excited about this just the way it is! As more and more features get added, the price is going to get further and further away from that 25 dollar sweet spot, and I'd also imagine that if you provided too many different "flavors" that too would drive the price up (More options...

Re: How would you use a Raspberry Pi device?

<t>I also like the thought of buying a couple of them and having them each be available for a specific task. I mean you could have a dozen of them and still be using less power than a traditional PC... though you would need a much larger network switch to handle all those CAT cables. I guess the poi...

Re: How would you use a Raspberry Pi device?

<t>NAS is more the direction of what I'm thinking. Depending on how much power I can get out of it, I'd like to have it running an apache server, proxy server, and possibly even providing some firewall action by placing it between my router and modem. Of course I'd want to add a second ethernet USB ...
